Is my alarm F* ed up?
I have a clifford IQ 700
I thought my siren went bad due to water
I replaced the siren but now the siren only clicks or beeps softly when I activate/deactivate the alarm
An alarm store told me the brain has no output and I need a new alarm
I discovered the guy at the store had the polarities of the siren reversed..doh!
Everything works now except for the siren...
Do I need a new alarm or can I test it somehow with a voltage tester?
How do I tell if I need a new alarm?

sounds like your being taken for a ride, if you can arm and disarm the alarm (doors close, doors open...etc.) your alarm brain is def not fried...hes trying to make a quick buck
Sounds to me like you need a $13 CAD (so like what... $2 american?) alarm siren, it can be picked up at an electronics store (NOT RADIO SHACK)...but if worst comes to worst, you can get it from the shack. just dont pay more than $20 US (regardless of type..it should be a mini, 12 volt, 6 tone siren).
Make sure you install the siren face down!

if you have the siren that came with that alarm, it is more a speaker than a traditional siren. so, it can be wired either way. there is anther wire you can use for a regular siren to see if that works. i believe yellow on that clifford. still sounds like you have a siren problem to me.
Humm, I think I have a similar problem. Yesterday I noticed that there was only one screw holding the alarm (probably has been like that since returned from body shop), so I took the other out to take to the store to match them and get some SS screws. When I turned off the car the alarm kept going off. then I noticed that I forgot to connect the ground.
Anyway, after I screwed the siren back, ground and all, it no longer worked. But I am able to lock/unlock with the remote, and the lights flick as the used to as well. Could it be the siren too?

I thought the guy at the shop was trying to make a buck too.
Im not a sucker so I bought a new $12 siren, but it still doesnt work when connected to the alarm...It just give a mute chirp
It works wonderful when hooked up to the battery though...
The clifford siren btw is kaput....
I dont know...

The alarm may have a problem with the relay to the siren. The store actually should be able to let you send in your brain and keychains to DEI (who owns Clifford now) and they will send you a refurbished unit free of cost.
if it gives a chirp, but very low in volume, you might consider just trying to hook up a relay to the siren, so that the signal from your alarm would turn on the relay and give the siren full clean power.
Then again, if its under warrenty...send it back!
