is it ez to install an alarm?!?!?!? where can i learn??? help!!
no one has said alarm installation is not easy. However, what is difficult is attaining the experience you need to do it not only right, but well.
A professionally installed alarm will be much better than a basic home install. Mind you, I as well as many others perfer to do their own install, but some of the things that are done better by a professional include:
- Wire tapping, properly, professionally tapped, taped, hidden and run
- proper positioning of all sensors, and setting their sensitivity appropriatly to avoid false alarms
- They know the specifics of your car, and if they don't can easily adapt relays etc. to an alarm to do what they want (light flashing, courtesy lights, negative to positive trigger etc.)
- They are used to the headaches of installing in a cramped space rather than taking the easy way out and installing in a common location
- The LED will actually fit in the drilled hole (DOH!)
- Siren and wiring properly shielded and installed
- Proper electrical knowledge, nothing like blowing your alarm brain to set off your day or wanting to add another sensor and forgetting diodes etc.
I'm not saying you can't learn this, or that without the motiviation you can't do a better install, but some things are just left to those with more expirence.
I would suggest you learn AS MUCH as you can, so when you get it installed, either by yourself, or with an expirenced friend, or at a shop, YOU can provide input as to how and where you want stuff and why. This is a great learning expierence and you still have control over things (kill switches, brain mounting, valet switches extra sensors you want...etc..)
Good luck!
