Default Bought an '08 Si sedan

I've been on the 'tech forever, but have been inactive for several years... because I didn't own a Honda for a while there, but that has recently changed so I thought I'd reintroduce myself.

I used to drive this Mini Cooper

It was a great car, but we had a baby, so I decided that I wanted something more practical. So, I bought an '08 Si sedan. And since my bone stock habenero red sedan is so different than all of the other habenero red sedans out there ...

The car only has 38 miles on it at the moment, but I really like it so far. I miss the Mini, but this car is quite a bit quicker and also handles very nicely.

Anyhow, "Hi".

Thanks guys. I had a lot of Hondas in the past - 2 MkI CRXs (including an 85 Si - very rare), an '85 or '86 Prelude (I can't even remember now), '92 Civic Si, '96 GSR, and an '00 Civic EX. And now an '08 Si.

So far, I really like this new Si! I didn't really consider the HR color, but it was all the dealer had so I thought I'd at least look at it. So he pulled it out, and I really liked it, so I went for it.

I drove it around 60 miles today, just for fun... which brings me to a total of 102 right now. It's really a fun car to drive

I would also look for something else than a 1st gen NA mini if I had a family in mind

I'm looking at the new generations of Mini S's as well as a Civic.

Welcome back

Minis are great cars if you don't need the space. I actually thought about getting a Clubman, but the Mini dealer is about 35 miles from my house (which in NY is an hour drive, at least) and the Civic was cheaper.

One of the neat things about a Mini is that most of the time you order it, so you can choose exactly what you want. Bad part is that you give them your down payment, and wait 2-3 months for the car

People dog on Mini reliability, but mine never gave me a problem.

Anyhow, good luck with your choice.

In this forum lately, its Honda's reliability and dealer conduct thats been taking some heat. Lets hope they make things right with this supposed 3rd gear fix everyone is talking about.

Awesome color. Its honestly the first HR Si I've ever seen on the internet (or in person), aside from honda.com. Looks awesome.

I got it for about 21.6k (including destination). That was a couple hundred more than Edmunds TMV, but they gave gave me a couple hundred more than TMV for my trade in. So I don't think I did THAT bad.

I didn't finance much (my trade in was paid off and I put a couple k down), and did a 2 year loan. So I'm not sure if my payment is relevant or not, but it's about 300/mo.

Buying cars sucks because I hate spending the money, but I guess I wanted the back doors to put my baby in there.... so

21.6 isnt that bad at all.

nothing beats a car that can get groceries, fit a family, while hitting high 14's with bolt ons and getting 30+ mpg on the highway

That's a great looking color. I have an '07 Fuji Blue four door Si. I got about 8K miles on it. Got it in July of '07. Traded my '05 Accord EX-V6. Kinda regret it but oh well. I do love the Civic. The only problem I'm having with the car is squeaks/rattles around the front windshield/dash area. Haven't brought it up to the dealer yet but definitely will during the 10K mile oil service.

I have the exact problem and same area. If you find out before me, let me know what the deal is ok? It's so annoying, and I have to turn up the radio just so I dont have to hear it.

Hey Congrats! I had a JCW Cooper S and I traded in for the FA Si too, but I'm missing the Mini though. Wish I had kept it.

I'm suprised to nobody has mentioned anything on this forum.
I was on the Edmunds forum earlier and I read some horror stories about rear windshields popping out from their place. I noticed that they mentioned cars built in Canada.
I did find an article from the NHTA concerning the windshield issue. Here's a bit. I'm bringing this with me at the dealer when I go for my next oil change and I will demand that they look over the entire front windshield to make sure things are in place. Of course I will have them look to figure out where this damn rattle is coming from.

I had a small squeak on the right side too where plastic met plastic. Puttinga piece of rubber between took care of that. One thing I do not like on the new Civic is the dash has too many pieces. It's not one whole piece so having squeaks is more likely.

Read below:

Make : HONDA Model : CIVIC Year : 2006
Manufacturer : HONDA (AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO.)
Crash : No Fire : No Number of Injuries: 0
ODI ID Number : 10147979 Number of Deaths: 0
Date of Failure: January 17, 2006
VIN : 2HGFG11376H...
Component: STRUCTURE:BODY:ROOF AND PILLARS
Summary:
FRONT WINDSHIELD MAKES CRACKING/CREAKING NOISES FROM ALL AREAS AROUND WINDOW WHERE GLASS MEETS SEAL/METAL. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE TRAVELS OVER ANY FLUCTUATION IN THE ROAD. SOME INSTANCES OF CREAKING AROUND THE REAR WINDSHIELD, AND EVEN MORE RARELY IN THE DASHBOARD OF THE VEHICLE. EXTREMELY DISTRACTING. MADE NOISES SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW - 2 MONTHS OLD AND SEVERITY OF NOISES INCREASING. HONDA DEALERSHIP NOTED NOISES BUT UNAWARE OF HOW TO FIX THIS ISSUE (TORONTO HONDA).

can you elaborate a bit piotrush on this 3rd gear problem? i notice with my '07 Si sedan going to 3rd sometimes needs an extra push to put the gear all the way in.
if i let go of the clutch too soon (thinking that it's in gear already) i get the grind.

looks like honda reliability is really going down the drain. 88-00 manual civics were bulletproof, but once the 01-05 came, it expletiveed everything up.

guess well have to see about the 06+ civics
