Spoon Caliper + Brake Pad Compatibility
I had a friend ask me this question, and I couldn't answer it for him since I don't own a set.
Hopefully you guys can.
Is there supposed to be some type of a retaining clip between the brake pad and the retention bar? Otherwise there is a gap between the pads and the caliper. What will hold it from keeping it in place? The pads in use, are Cobalt GT-Sports.

He has the original set of pads that were sent out. Cobalt now produces the pads with the bump in it to accomidate the Spoon Clappers, just like the older VR and GTS did. We noticed this problem at EXPO last year.

So when you order Cobalts (
) for SPOON clappers, you need to specify this. Otherwise you could still get the original setup without the tabs.

and how bad was it? I recently got spoon calipers and still have pads without the tabs.

I was wondering the same thing. I posted in a thread made about this just before Expo 7, and stil ran the same pads without any tabs. I still have those pads and now they're back in the oem calipers.
I noticed the pads did slide a bit, but never really worried about it.
