1st gen crv vs 2nd gen
Well if im going to try and take out a loan for a crv for the wife and its gotta be 5 speed so which one is better? pros and cons?

1st gen

2nd gen

1st gen

2nd gen
First Gen Pros:
1. Cheaper in cost of purchase and insurance.
2. B-Series engine means you can get parts for cheap, easier to work on.
3. Appears to be roomier.
4. No blind areas.
2nd gen Pros & Cons:
High Points
+ roomy cargo area, especially with the seats stowed (big enough for two dogs!)
+ large, side-hinged rear door (makes loading the dogs easier)
+ fuel economy (means we can afford premium dog food)
+ superb fit and finish inside and out
+ lots of little storage compartments
+ clear sight lines to front and sides
+ good-quality stock sound system with in-dash 6CD changer (EX or optional)
Middling Points
= road noise
= acceleration
= no color-matched spare tire cover
= single power port in front
Low Points
- head rests block rear window view (though reclining the seats a bit helps greatly)
- Yakima doesn't make a roof rack
- so far, I don't get to drive it much...

If performance means anything to you, you'll want to skip the first generation. Not bad vehicles at all, just slow. The 2nd generation is a definite improvement in that regard, though still not a rocket.
Yeah the 2nd gen is definatly quicker, but the biggest turn off for me is that the 2nd gen has a plastic dash, not the vinyl stuff, this hard plastic. this makes the car very boomy, and with cheap tires, the tire roar echoes in the cabin. my mom owned both, and when she got the 2nd, talking to her on her cell phone, it was evident that she was in the car when talking to me, i could pickup road noise a lot more.
Might not be on your list of things to do, but for a grand, you could put a GSR or integra type-R engine head on the first one for a nice power bolt on. cheaper to modify than the 2nd gen, though i don't know if this is on your list of concerns, hehe.
