question edm cluster rpm off why?
got an edm cluster. installed it right into a usdm ef 91 civic. the rpm meter is off about 900 rpm. not sure if the speedo is correct either but has anyone had this issue before. did i get a messed up cluster or is there a fix?
cause i just drove it with the old one, then i just installed the new one.
also where the location of where the tach is normally at a certain speed and gear, its now higher.
my idle is another one. its set at a certain lever and now its about 900 rpm higher.
now its not exactly 900 rpm it might be between 700- 1000rpm off. this is only eye balling it. but i know it is is off.
it has always been below 1000k rpm at idle. but it never gets below 1250 rpm even when its been driven and properly warmed up. i even played a little trick on it. i put the car in gear (1st gear) and let it roll at idle. then i stopped the car, by slowly pressing the brake pedal till the car stops. i did this little trick before so i know what it does. well in the past i would just slowly step on the brake till it stalls out. it would die at about 250 rpm. today it dies but never falls below 1100 rpm's.
there is a difference. i know this is not scientific but i know it is off.
i have not done anything with the engine from when i drove it today till i changed the cluster.
i am wondering if the person i bought it from sold me a tach side that was on a car with a tach with the original usdm tach. which only hits 8k rpm. i hope i didnt get screwed. i did notice the rear was pryed open. now that doesnt mean too much but the inner cluster looked very dusty.
anyone know if they have used a usdm cluster and needed to mod anything to get it to work.
