Default fixing carbon fiber?

My brother has a carbon fiber wing on his evo. The clear coat is coming off a little, and is turning white. I know its for an evo, but the Mitsubishi guys arent as helpful as the honda guys. How can I fix this problem. I heard theories or wet sanding and buffing. Is this possible?

if possible sand the peeling clear back and the white as well and reclear.
you can try buffing but a friend of mine picked up a itr with cf hood from a dealership and they buffed the hood before the sale and it gave it a white faded look to it.

best bet would be to sand down most of the clear, be careful not to hit the weave...not just the part thats fading but the whole wing...start with 320...work your way up to bout maybe 600 then reclear....make sure all sanding is done wet and is uniform

Its okay to sand the weave, you'll have to sand it for a quite a while to burn through. A good way to tell if you do sand it down to the weave is the shape of the weave will start to distort as you start to sand through the carbon. Its probably fading/oxidizing because its not clear coat on there. Sand it, clear it, good to go.

Are u serious?!

They jerked him around when his Brembos clear started to crack.....saying that it didn't impede on the "function" of the breaks.

If u are right I guess its worth a shot......

A hole in a C/F hood? NO. Put your hood latch pins back in and forget about it.

As far as your wing is concerned, you probably don't need to sand it. Go to a paint supply place and get a buffing compound for marine/gel coat applications. This and a good wool pad with a variable speed buffer should take care of it. As long as the clear isn't peeling you should be fine. If it is peeling, then sanding is necessary first.

Yeah I've seen what you're talking about. But you'll still need a marine or gel coat application buffing compound because I've done this to a lot of hoods and buffing wetsand marks out of c/f is a beeaatch. Just take your time and be careful. It sounds repairable but it would help if you posted pics.
