My friend had them on his old Prelude for awhile. They grip really well, but they don't last real long depending on your driving style.

yes

195/55-14 more width, with a slightly shorter tire wall height.

$72 ea at tirerack.com

No, I run 195/60VR14 AVS-I on a 14x5 rim without a problem so those should be fine.

the SP8000 is a sweet @$$ tire. i didnt know about the khumo coming in that same size, but i would still go with the dunlop. i now have 15" wheels so i went with the SP9000 (which i cannot comment on, because the car is still on jacks until i get some oil lines and mandrel bent tubing).

Want the best/stickest 14'' tire?

Try the 195-60-14 Falken Azenis.

I run the 205-50-15 and they are THE stickest damn tires I've ever had!

Discount Tire Direct http://www.discounttiredirect.com sells these tires for only $54.00 a piece!

Dunlop SP8000 will cost more and not stick as good as the Azenis. I've driven on a set of 205-50-15 SP8000 and they suck donkey ***** compared to the Azenis! The SP8000 cost $82.00 a piece! Bump that!

Flaken Azenis:

Also, the Yokohama AVS-Intermediate tires are bad-*** too:

http://www.tirerack.com sells these for just $52.00 a piece too!

SP8000 are a rip compared to these 2 sets of tires. I've driven on all 3 and the Dunlops don't compare in performance or pricing.

How do the azenis compare to the yokohama parada spec 2. They have very similar tread pattern?

Tom,

A big downside to the Falken's is wet pavement performance.

The AVS Intermediates would be a better all around choice of the ones you've listed, although I have to admit the Falken's have superb dry track adhesion.

Currenty I'm not using my 17's, so I have my stock 14's on with Bridgestone Potenza RE910 195/60TR14, which are 60,000 mile tires, and grip really well, plus look very nice on the car as well.

I like the fact that NOW, the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD is now in 205/50R15. Sticker than the Azenis tires. But nearly twice the price.

Falken. They say the Azenis were specifically designed for maximum dry pavement traction.

"Solid tread blocks for excellent dry-weather performance" Right off the Falken website.

While not available in our size, the GRB FK451 is better suited to wet - "AA traction rating is the highest available and represents the tire's superior ability to stop on wet pavement" - also from Falken.

Nothing like right from the horse's mouth.

Traction ratings don't mean ****.

They are rated by the manufacturer themselves, so of course they can put a spin on them to cater to their own marketing ploys.

Think about this:

Make some sort of inference that your Azenis aren't the best wet tire because you KNOW that the target group that will be buying them will drive harder than the next guy because of the "Max Performance" tire that it is.

That way they cover their asses in case a wannbe Shumacher wrecks his car because he was hot-shoeing his car in the rain on Azenis because he "never heard that they were no good in the rain" and now they have a problem on their hands.

I have heard that the Azenis are good in the rain - I will find out soon enough I guess.

My pal did drive pretty hard on his in pouring rain in his ITR - even beat me in a fun-run at a redlight on them while I was on my old Pirellis.

His car is a good full second or slower in the 1/4 mile then mine, and I didn't get a horrible launch.

This isn't so much a reference to the traction rating, but Falken's specific spin on the Azeni's being designed for dry pavement, and that they have designed other tires with wet traction still in mind.

They are rated by the manufacturer themselves, so of course they can put a spin on them to cater to their own marketing ploys.

True, but this is just a sad commentary on the pitiful condition of personal responsibility in this country -- i.e. "protect me from my stupid self".

What does Pirelli say about the wet traction of your tire? Maybe it wasn't the "good" traction of the Azeni's, but the bad traction of your Pirellis.

I know that ratings don't mean much, but what the manufacturer SAYS about what the tire is designed for seems relevant to this discussion.
