Default quick ?...new to the k series

ok ive been in iraq since august n ive been tryin to get online whenever i can to do some research. however my time to do it is very limited. ive owned a 4th gen prelude for years now n i know a good deal about the h22. when i get home to ny after i get outta this shithole i plan on finding an 05-06 rsx type s. now with the h22, it had the shitty frm linings in the cylanders so they had to be sleeved to use forged pistons. so my question is this...would i need to sleeve the k20 block too? also wut r some good pistons to use to bump comression up a lil bit? compared to say the bump that h22 type s pistons give over stock h22 pistons. again would sleeving be necessary? i appologize in advance for the newb questions, like i said im not new to the honda family at all im just still tryin to learn more about the rsx/k20 b4 i buy it when i get home. so any help for a marine in iraq waitin to come home would be much appreciated

If you will be staying NA you don't need to resleeve. You could get the type-r pistons from jdmland.com to bump compression up to 11.5:1 opposed to the stock 11:1. You can get them 86mm or .25mm over in case you require a cylinder hone. Honestly if you are going to go through the trouble of doing that why not go a little higher to 12.5:1, replace the pencil thin rods and be done with the bottom end. I highly recommend Wiseco pistons. Other than that please get Kpro and get it tuned. RBC intake manifold, CAI, race header, cams and exhaust and you should be good to go if you are going the NA route.

well i was definately gettin kpro, thats probly gonna be the 1st thing i buy after the car. so to add onto wut u said about the 12.5:1, i wanna be able to use regular 93octane gas so as long as ill be able to do that then i guess higher comp is another option for me. will i be able to just throw in the wiseco pistons without sleeving? like i said im used to the h22 havin to be sleeved for anythin besides factory so its always in my head that i gotta sleeve, bear with me lol.

on the flip side if i have enough money left over after i buy the car im thinkin of gettin either the brian crower or the toda stroker kit so i wouldnt even have to worry about any of that...havnt done enough research on those yet to know which one is better than the other. n as i said, thats if money permits.

I would go built K24 over stroker kit IMO and sleeving is not needed unless you plan on boring out over 87mm on a K20

I have a question. Why start so early to tear up the motor?

Personally, I'd start off with basic bolt-ons first and work my way up from there.

well personally id rather try and get the majority of my motor done in one shot so i only have to tune once. as i collect wutever engine mods i end up doin ill work on the car elsewhere such as suspension, body, etc. when i have all the pieces to my motor puzzel then ill put it together.

If you have the money then why would you want to start off with basic bolt ons? Yeah it's a good start to try and "feel" where you want to head to making power, but if you already have a goal or an objective then it'd be pointless to go with "basic boltons" especially if you already know where you're heading to. You'd just be throwing away extra money on the "basic boltons" when you could of used that money to head where you want to. I've had my second TypeS since August and i know exactly what i want to do. I have no use or need to put any extra effort or money on "basic boltons" because i know where i want to go.

rawNAprelude: No you wont need to sleeve your block especially if you're going to go the NA route with 93 ocatne in mind. IMO the highest you can go with 93 is the 11.5:1 anything higher you need to start sleeving, pistons, rods, bearings etc..etc..... and higher octane. If all you want to have is a nice NA for a DD then i would suggest for you, this is only my thoughts and opinions:

buy a base rsx, pull the motor and sell it (put those funds back into getting your car the way you want). Buy the k20A drop that in since it already has a 11.5:1 and LSD. Get K-pro and upgrade suspension then interior and everything else the way you want.

The reason i say a base is because i beleive it would be more cost effective working with the base (since the chassis is exactly the same as the typeS) then it would be with a typeS.

i appreciate u agreeing on doin it all at once rather than wasting extra money have pieceing it together n having to tune multiple times. however i would rather go with the type s n work from there. it will be my daily driver, so i still want all the trims that come with the type s. im not lookin to make this car a track monster, just a relatively fast street car. i wanna go in the same direction that i went with my prelude, i just want a newer platform.

im lookin to squeeze a lil more power out of the motor without havin to build it. as with my h22, i didnt go with aftermarket pistons, i just went with prelude type s os pistons to squeeze a lil more oem power out of the h22. similarly i guess i could go with k20a pistons, however, if i can go aftermarket without havin to sleeve im probly gonna go that route. ill be home in a month so i can research a lot more then. for now im just tryin to get a feel on wuts pushin a k20 without goin overboard.

so i appreciate every1s help thus far, keep the suggestions coming. hopefully now that missions r decreasing, ill have more time to come on here...i miss this website a lot haha

Well Jeff really knows his ish, and I trust him. He answers a lot of tech questions that other people wouldn't take the time to explain because they think its a waste of time or too much of a hassle. If I didn't buy from them my second choice would be IPS.
