I haven't seen that tool before so I went and looked... looks like it's supposed to slide through the assembly from where the axle goes into the hub and then screw the nut on like the axle nut. This probably allows you to attach a slide hammer to it or allows you to hammer it through from behind.

I wouldn't say you need it. If that assembly doesn't want to come out after some hits of a hammer on the back of the rotor it's probably not coming out without use of a press. I would save my money and spend it on something else.

If the assembly doesn't come out, remove the knuckle from the car and take it to a machine shop to have them pressed out, probably cost 25-50. Upon install, clean the bearing and knuckle of all rust and grease them up to help prevent rusting like this again.

1.Remove steering knuckle from car

2. Get some long sacrificial bolts (m12X1.5 I -think-) Remove bearing retaining bolts and install long bolts.

3. With knuckle in shop vise, use air hammer to pound on ends of bolts to work bearing out of knuckle.

4. Rotors can then be removed/reinstalled.

5. use original bolts to pull bearing back into knuckle

Do not attempt to use a slide hammer or other means to pull bearing out of knuckle by pulling on wheel lugs. You will damage the bearing. There is a rather expensive tool that supposedly gently separates the inner race from the outer race allowing you to reassemble the bearing but I have my doubts it is harmless to the bearing.
