Hey guys, I don't know exactly what size tire and width of rim I should use on my fully built ls turbo hatch .. I want to run 15s or 16s but how wide of a rim should I get ? Tire size? Some friends suggested a tire size of 225/40/15? Possible 245s with a rime size of 15 by 8.5 to 9 ... any suggestions ? Also aside from gettin sticky tires anything else I should get to also help add to gettin good traction ?

 

are you looking for a slicks setup or you looking for a street tire?
how much power are you making?

 

I want more of a slick option although I'm driving it on the street .. And my setup isn't finished yet but I'm certain ill be around 320 plus wheel horse

 

your options are:

get a 15x7 or 15x6.5 wheel, use a 23x7.5x15 MH slick. that would work ok with the hp you have.

or get a drag wheel. lets say our VPD 13x7.5 lightweight drag racing wheel and use a 23x8x13 M&H slick on that.

either tire is not for the street, track only.

 

Well no matter what I'm gonna run whatever tire I have on the street and the track more street tho .. And wouldn't u think that a rim 15 by 7 would be to thin .. I mean I would want something a little wider then stock .. Maybe a different offset .. Basically I'm looking for the best possible route to have good traction

 

youre making only 320hp, you dont need a 9" wide rim.
slick width doesnt necessarily mean you use the same rim width. lets say some 8.5" wide slick you can use 7.5-8" wide. or 7.5" wide slick, use 6-6.5" wide rim.

Each slick has its own manuf spec on what rim width to use. Even some 10" wide slicks use 8" wide rims.

Work on suspension. higher spring rate on the rear. better shocks.
