Default Si vs SiG vs SiR (Canada)

Hello HT i've been a long time lurker and first time poster.

I have a question for you guys regarding the spec/option differences on a 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si as i'm in the market for a new vehicle.

I'm looking threw the autotrader and I notice that there is three different models Si, SiG, SiR i'm just curious if anyone has some insight to whether or not they all have the same engine (b16a2) and just different trim/options?

Thanks in advance .

I believe that the trims might actually be:

Si (same as USDM EX)

Si-G (same as USDM EX - maybe some differences - upgrade or removed options?, though I'm unsure of what)

SiR (same as USDM Si)

That'd mean the Si and Si-G have the D16Y8 and the SiR has the B16A2.

That's dissapointing though see'ing as the d16y8 and the b16a2 is a huge difference in power. I will mostly be using this as a highway DD so passing on 2 lane canadian highway's requires alittle more get up and go.

It seems low mileage SiR's seem to be alittle more rare to find in decent condition and or unmodified (no rims, body kits, turbo'd).

Thanks for the information .

I have an EX coupe (US version of Si coupe) with over 233k km and I have no problem overtaking anyone on the road. Oh, and I'm in WA, USA, so I'm just south of Canada.

As long as you make sure to get a car with a manual transmission, there should be no issue at all.

If you are set on the EM1 and you're near the US, you could look into what it might cost to pick up a US Si coupe (SiR). I know that bringing a car from Canada can be pretty expensive... but I'm not sure how it might go the other way.

I'd be more concerned with finding a car that's been taken care of than anything. If you really need to, you can swap in the future.

You generally can't go wrong with a honda's reliability, my current car 92' Honda Accord EX-R has 256,xxx KM on it and the only issue I had with it was replacing the distubutor not too long ago other than regular wear and tear. Had it since 140,xxx KM . Great little car and it's given me the chance to bank some money and it's time to find a new DD.

I'm not dead set on getting a SiR but for what I want my next car to be it would be prefered that I get a SiR, other considerations would be a 2003-2004 v6 Tiburon and or a 2000-2001 Celica since I have a budget of 12-13k'ish for my next car (has to last while though). Apples to oranges I know.

Finding a car with little or no abuse can be a challange but with most imports they can take a beating and keep on ticking .

I'll keep what you said in mind about the EX though and about swaps that maybe a possibility once I familiar myself with the steps and finding places around where I am that can do them.
