i was just wondering if can take of my turbo setup and run a normal header with low compression?

 

If you can drive the car with the turbo, you can drive it without the turbo.

Yes you can, but why?

 

Low compression will not give you that pop right off in 1st and 2nd gear. low compression gives you 3rd and 4th gear power. low compression also gives you better gas mileage ;D

WHAT!? i think your as lost as bexisboy. sure you can run with low comp but you wont make much power. if you take the turbo off, make sure to make the adjustments to the ecu (if you can) and put it back to factory comp

x2. Im running my vitara's with a 8:1-8:5 c/r at the moment n/a only because i just rebuilt and am breaking it in. There is a overall power loss, lower c/r equalls less comp and less power but is better for not detonating under boost (along with a good tune ). So yes you can, but it will be kind of a slug.

 

I'm still waiting for him to explain how low compression increases power only in 3rd and 4th and how it improves gas mileage...

haha if only there was a way to keep idiots off of H-T. like some sort of exam you have to write before you can post.

obviously the car makes the same power in any gear and gas mileage doesnt have much to do with compression ratio...if anything a higher compression motor would be more efficient...

yes its safe to run thats how most people break in turbo motors

A higher compression ratio will improve torque production throughout the powerband and will improve fuel economy.

Very true. If low compression improved either fuel economy or mileage, this would make things MUCH easier for all of us. We would not have to worry about detonation or higher octane fuel. We would all just run 2:1 and be done with it.

LMFAO! well i guess me running 10.6:1 compression ratio (p30 pistons) must make me fast in 1st and 2nd but slow in 3rd and 4th, and 5th gear is just wrthless and a joke.... DAMN IT! guess ill try and find something in the middle. i cant stop laughing at that.
