got a automatic 98 coupe v6.. as im driving i can hear the gears struggling to shift ...like on first gear when i press the gasyou can see the rpms go to like 4 or 5000 and its only going like 15 mph... then it kicks back a little and goes into second gear and does the same but as soon as i hit 3rd gear it doesnt really kick back....

does this problem require a new transmission, minor replacemnt of some parts, a rebuilt transmission or a used one from a junk yard....what you guys think>

 

i also hear a ticking noise comin from the engine when i am on Park.... do u think this requires a timing belt change

 

Really didn't see any info on those cars having bad transmissions huh?

There's like 300 threads about it.

You'll want a tranny rebuild.

And timing belt/water pump/etc (major service) is every 7 years or 80k miles

 

rebuilt or used tranny.


and do a valve adjustment.

 

i had a 98 and the injectors would tic for the first few mins the car ran and then quit.

You got a few problems

1. replace the trans with a honda reman unit
2. resolve your heat issue ( you said guage does not show car getting up to temp)
3. If you are around 120K miles or higher it is t-belt and valve adjustment time. make sure they put a new water pump in along with drive belts and tensioner

 

yeah how much does it cost for the remans transmission.....i got to to replace that temp guage too.. i have 107k on my car...also what about my motor mount when i start up my car in the morning and i dont let it sit for like 10 mins when i put it in drive it jerks real quick .....do i have to replace my motor mount

 

so no one knows how much it will cost for a remans transmission?
