Default Head swap

I've got a stock LS on 11lbs. Head blew, so I picked up another with 42,000 on it. Can I possibly just slap it on instead of taking it to a shop to be milled. What kind of risk do I run? Got new gasket, arp studs, ect. This is my dd so I need it moving. Our local shop might take up to a week for a simple mill. Way over booked.

head blew
i am just curious how the head blew, because there may be another issue.

as far as slapping on another head, have at it, just have great faith in the guy you got it from. you dont necessarilly need to surface it unless it is warped, and unless you own a straight edge and a set of feeler gauges you cant check that. so unless you are 100% sure it is flawless, bolt it on.

The bottom end was rebuilt 2 months ago, and the head had a few valves sticking back then. Never bothered with it. No my civic sounds just like my STi, and my valve cover just has exhaust fumes leaking out of the vents for the catch can. Hope it's the head. Sound about right? Never had exhaust just come out of the valve cover.

sounds more like rings or cracked piston the head won't cause blow by which is what it sounds like

if you need it going i'd just pick up a long block for like 500 and deal with it later sounds like it's going to be more work than you want to get in to if you need the car asap

sounds like you broke some ring lands or you have a big *** hole in your piston. I would suggest going to go and buy a new motor, also try to drive better or your tune is too agressive or not tuned at all.

I just bought an LS head from JG with a port/polish valve job from hell, only to find my motor failed a leakdown test. Ripped the head off, pistons are fine, cylinder walls are as smoothe as glass. I guess time to throw some internals in. Thanks for the help.

She was my 296whp daily driver. Now I'm ballin the wifes minivan. LOL

god damn how the expletive did you get 296hp out of ls on 11psi. It's weird that you get so much blow by just with glazzed up cylinder walls.
