I was changing the rear brakes today, took the pads out just fine. When putting in new pads i couldnt push the piston back in it looks like this (+). I tried clamping it, twisting it in but it will not go back in. I tried it with the ebrake up and down. also disconnected the brake fluid banjo bolt, still no luck. any suggestions? thanks in advance guys.

 

Try turning the piston as you are pushing it.

 

You dont say what car you have but the proper way to do a brake job is to remove the old pads, remove the banjo bolt the press the piston back in (or screw back in,in some cases) releasing the old fluid out of the caliper, then reconnect, add some more fluid to the resovoir, install and in some cases bleed a bit of air out....
also it should be done with the ebrake down...

also what is " (+) " ???

 

Use a flathead screwdriver or chisel clockwise and it should twist in.

I believe thats the piston and the + being the grooves if you were looking directly over it.
