Winter Beater Cosmetic Restoration (DA Teg) w/pics
Well, winter here in WI has halted progress on the CRX, so that went into storage for a few months. Took my Acura Legend, cleaned it up nice, and traded it straight up for this '92 GS.
Specs:
120,000 miles
all stock except for TR&D exhaust and some lovely taillights
very little rust
Car runs great, no grinds, engine is super smooth.
The biggest "bad" about this car was the interior. The tan leather was terrible. Especially the drivers seat (I haven't even taken off the seat cover he had on there yet, but when i saw duct tape, i knew it had to be bad)
There is one thing i cannot stand, and that's a messy interior. So, managed to source some good condition seats and started to work.
I don't have too much progress so far, but it is a start and it will be ongoing.
Enjoy and feel free to ask any questions
Car as I bought it:

Note the mentioned "lovely" taillights

The set of seats I got:

They were very dirty. (picked them up from a tow yard) I decided it would be best to take the covers off to clean them. Here are pics.
I started by removing all the hog clips from the back of the seats and also in the seams. Once i got the cover off, i took them to the shower and started to scrub. You wouldn't believe how much brown water came off.
Here is a comparison between the seat bottoms (not done yet)

and the finished seat backs.

For reference, this is the tool and the rings i used to reattach the covers

How the ring looks when closed

I went ahead and remove all of the rear interior panels so i could bring them into the house to clean. (not to many pics of before)

Here is a shot of the rear upholstered panel that can be removed by bending the tabs back on the back of the panel.
Shown for the metal tabs

The cloth was beyond cleaning, so decided to go ahead and make a trip to the fabric store. I have always been a fan of the unique designs on some of the VW's and other model's panels and seats. So, i went out on a limb and am trying out something different.
Picked up some spray adhesive and went to town. Just did this tonight, so no "completed" pics yet. It's just sitting in there for now.

Other misc. things are seatbelts all cleaned up

And the speaker panels removed, cleaned and ready for covering.

Another shot of the cleaned seat back next to the dirty seat bottom.

And lastly, how the foam looks with the covers removed.

In case you were wondering, it was very easy to reattach the covers. It actually was more difficult removing the old rings off of the seat.
Thats it for this week, i'll be back in February with pics of the rear completed and the beginning of the front half of the car.

I'm not a huge fan either. I prefer the all black look. I thought about dying it all black, but not worth the effort in my opinion.

dumb i know but i need some ideas to clean mine!

It's more an issue of HOW than WHAT. I just used some laundry detergent and scotch pad on the panels and some stain remover and a bristle brush on the seats.
Finished one and put in on the panel to see how it looks. I really like the design. Adds some uniqueness to a rather boring interior.

The other one drying:

Have a good night. I'm out

Local ACE hardware store. $10 for the tool and a box of rings. Crazy that this really is used on Hogs' snouts.
