Default re-coloring seats

I have a set of 94 civic si front seats, as well as a set of 88 teg back seats that i am looking to put into my ef hatch. Problem is, they dont match, either in color, and the pattern on the insert fabric is slightly off.

Is there any way i could maybe, paint the seats to match? Like, black on the outside, then something else (like a dark blue) on the inserts? I have been told taht a few coats of normal spray paint will soak in and work just fine, but i wanted to make sure first

I tried using some fabric dye from auto on my old cars rear seats... not to pretty. The seats came out stiffer than a board and it took alot to get it looking right. I would honestly rather take the seat apart and get the hog rings off and make my own using the existing pattern.
