Default Can you spray on 12:1 compression and JUN 3's?

Sorry for posting this here, but you ITR guys are the most knowledgeable and the quickest to respond. I am thinking of picking up a Zex kit.
1.Can I spray with my CTR pistons, or would I need forged pistons.
2.Also, would the Zex computer be Okay with my Hondata?
3.Can you tune Hondata for nitrous use? I have 440's so I should be able to supply the fuel without bumping my fuel pressure by a crazy amount.

**** man, for nitrous the higher comprsesion the better
(why ruin an all motor setup like that...)

um...well why don't you try and let us all know how it goes...in my opinion...that would be a negative to "spray NAWZ" on 12:1 compression and Jun 3's...but hey Honda motors are invincible...

I would advise against spraying on such high CR.

I never raised my compression when I ran nitrous...and never had a problem besides bending my valves...my motor handled it like a champ, I just pulled out a boatload of timing...like 6 degrees when the nitrous sprayed, rather safe then sorry
but nitrous on 12:1 WITH Jun3's is just rediculous

Awww....you guys are no fun , but good to know that you would not let me do something stupid. I mean nitrous will lower the intake charge temperature, so there will be less of a chance of detonation. If the extra fuel is added, then there is no chance of leaning out.

That means that it is just the cylinder pressure that I should be concerned with. How much more would that be?

Forged pistons would last a bit longer i would think.

2.Also, would the Zex computer be Okay with my Hondata?

Its a separate entity. Not related.

yes you should be able to, but 440s may not be enough fuel to compensate.

In short, yes you can run nitrous on a high CR setup, but you WILL have to seriously
retard the timing or experience bad detonation.

In other words I believe Steve is saying, it wouldn't be worth the performance gains from running N20 w/ such high compression and retarded timing eh?

go to the forced induction forum first of all, and believe it or not nitrous loves compression but like sgt said, you have to make the appropriate steps to handle it.

Nitrous is not like turbo charging it can take compression.

correct, while nitrous and turbo make more power with more compression...it is safer with less compression, with higher compression you just pull out more timing and make sure you are not running then. even then your engine life isn't what it once was(although that's with mostly any big mod)

yea now your getting into some serious **** , i wouldnt do it .
plus with the cams , the lobes are too big and wont work too long with nitrous. the valves or seomthing will get fucked up . . . i forget off hand , but know its a no no .

Amazing. Your post is just spewing with technical argument and the reasoning to back it up. Thank you, I am so much wiser now. The lobes are too big, the lobes are too big.

Not really.
Nitrous is a lot like NA in terms of setup. Since there is nothing "forcing" air in,
you need to use all the NA tricks to get as much in as possible.

LOL Stop while you're ahead man, everybody is gonna flame you for using nitrous on this forum.

Ask your question on the f/i forum and you will get answers without biased opinions.

wht are you such a ********?just curious , once and a while your cool and then the other 95% of the time your an *******.
i said i didnt know the specifics off hand , but i know the jun3's would not be good for it , nor would the 12.5:1 or whatever it was. . . . i think it was something with valve overlap . . . i dunno. i didnt get too far int it becuase i dont want aftermarket cams anyway , i just heard and read that to watch out with them with nitrous.

actually sgt, that is true , i read it in a few tuning books and even asked typrmsm when i was gonna get a set of todas not too long ago , he advised against it with the nitrous use.
im gonna see if i can find the specifics tonight and maybe scan it or something . it was in one of those Joe Petit books .

As for valve overlap... can anyone tell me what effect long duration cams would have in a FI app? I've heard of people having "turbo cams" before, what would the difference be compared to an n/a cam, and while steve said nitrous is similar to n/a in principle, would there be any difference in lift/duration on an ideal "nitrous" cam on lets say a drag only sprayed motor?

Just read it and repeat it, dont bother scanning. I'd like to hear it.

Perhaps they refer to nitrous backfire, but in my experience it doesnt happen
that often.

I've run todas with nitrous before, was quite fun

I always go by this rule, if you don't know for sure what you're talking about you shouldn't post. The guy asked a smiple question and wanted responses, NOT OPINIONS which are so freely given out especially on this forum. Its his car and he can do whatever the hell he wants to do with it.

id say prolly ctr, itr cams are right on point ,t he todas and juns are just too high profile.
but i think crower makes a nitrous cam along with zex and they are more low profile lobe on them .

again i dont know all the specifics, but i know the giast of it from reading about em .
