Wow, they're charging you that much to just add muffler piping?? Are you just trying to replace your stock one or are you trying to go bigger, 2.5 etc?

Also, are these places ordering one specifically for the lude or is it just universal piping welded to the back of your muffler and cat?

If it's welded you can take it to any muffler shop, there's many, and most will weld piping on there for like 40 bucks.

I got my entire exhaust system from the header to the bumper for about that, and I got three inch all the way back with a magnaflow muffler and resonator. I do get the hook-up though.

20 bucks says this guy has a big sign over his head that says, I still dont know whats going on. And these mechanics see this sign, and go "Pay Day"

Not to flame, I have/had one of these signs. I paid around 250 bucks just to have my 2.5 custom pipes done, and they welded on my muffler that I brought along with me.

I remember I went to a place first to see what they would charge, and my first estimate was like 325. Then I asked how much just to put my cat on, and they go, 150 bucks. I said "Take my car off the lift"

Your going to get ripped off by mechanics if your willing to pay them. Which is why Ive been doing just about all my work on my car.

I no longer see an effiecent way to pay 50 dollars for an oil change, when I can do it myself for 20 bucks.

Keep looking. I found a good shop, that I can pretty much trust to only rip me off so much.

Very true. I've also been quoted VERY high when doing things to my exhaust system. One place wanted 140 for an OEM cat for a vehicle "like mine" and another 80 to weld it, with tax about 250. I was running a straight pipe without any resonators or cat..needless to say it was actually a good loud but I kept getting pulled over. After a few fix it tickets I decided to put a new cat in as well as a resonator. I had a local muffler shop weld brand new 2.25 piping, an OEM Cat and a resonator to my Rs-type muffler for 150, they charged me 60 bucks for the cat, 40 for the piping, and 30 for a 10 inch resonator. I've had it for a few weeks but I went there a year ago to get my muffler welded on for 40 bucks and another 40 for brand new piping, the piping looked REALLY good when I had it replaced the 2nd time, so they're doing good work for cheap prices.

For simple welds just go to local muffler shops not these big chains. Those are likely to give prices differently to everyone but if you're lucky and know how to haggle a little you can always get a better deal there.

Most important thing is to shop around if there are more than one muffler shops around the area. I would say that job costs no more than 50-100 bucks depending on what area you live.

yea i know that price is too high and im not paying it. all i need is a pipe from the flange from the pipe that comes from my muffler that is already on there to my resonator which is probly like 30 bucks or less to get. i know how to tig weld so i can do the welding i just cant bend it myself.
