Any ITR owners driven the new Mini Cooper S?
Any of you guys driven the new Mini Cooper S? I've been thinking about getting one as my daily driver, to relieve the daily stress on the R. I have an appointment today at 5pm to drive one. Let me know your thoughts.

I have not had a chance to drive a Mini Cooper S yet. I have heard that it handles exceptionally well and may be very competitive at SCCA nationals this year.
But, what I don't understand is how in the hell did they make such a small car so heavy. The Mini Cooper S tips the scales at slightly above 2700 pounds! Man, I thought our ITRs were a bit heavy.
I like the looks and I wouldn't mind having one if they are as fun as everybody says they are. I don't think I would trade my ITR for it though.

I don't think that the "mini" is the same size that it used to be. If you REALLY look at it, it's not as small as it first appears. It's still a cool car though, more of a collector/auto-xer than a daily driver though.
2700 like kenji said.
Kenji: Jason Monday owns one. Very very nice.. I'm in love with the car and we put my 15" BFG R1's on it.. *insane* turn in.. haven't driven it, don't really want to, but the thing is quick and handles very well. He'll be at the next autox with it

.. i'd get that car if it had the MR-S weight..
I've driven it a few times at work. Not as fast as I thought it would be given the HP increase. Feels like a strong NA engine. 2nd gear is really flat, which surprised me for a 6 speed. Suspension is really good. Steering is better than the ITR though...really good feedback. The car is HUGE compared to the old one...They weigh around 2600-2700lbs. We parked one next to my friends old skool Mini and it is alot larger. kinda expensive, but it does come with alot of cool stuff standard.
I'd drive one, but I wouldn't buy one.....

I've looked at them at the nearby dealer, but never test drove it. Doesn't do anything for me. IMO also overpriced. I spent most of the time drooling over the 2001 PY ITR for sale on the lot. Unfortunately,
$28k for an ITR isn't in my budget...

Ding ding, you got it Reid...
I bumped into cheese a week ago and he told me about the awesome purchase.
I hope he holds his promise and brings it by my place!!!

I'd keep looking if I were you. There are a lot of 24 thousand dollar and under cars I'd rather buy as a daily driver ... Maxima, WRX, Sentra Spec V, Matrix, GTI 1.8T, Accord V6, etc
If you really really want the mini then wait a little while til the inflated prices come down
