Default shooting for 600hp.....what do u guys think?

82mm bore
9.1 cp pistons
aebs sleeves
crower rods
skunk2 valvetrain
gm 3 bar map sensor
edlebrock manifold
precision 1000cc injectors
oem headgasket
arp head studs
walbro 255lph fuel pump
65mm edlebrock tb
AUTOWORKS pro Turbo Kit

Ok this is all i got now i am pretty sure i will need to change the cams and gears but not sure on all that. I dont know the quality of autoworks turbo kits but I just want some opinions on all this and anything i should add. remind you this does not have anything but my motor, no drivetrain, or any of that i am just worried about the block and all this for now so i can start. This is going to be a b16a2 build and the block is ripped apart and ready for work. Just need to know where to start and how you guys with alot more experience feel about what I have researched and came up with so far. I have searched and searched but with all this i just want some people to tell me if i am headed in good or bad directions. thanks

Which crower rods were you looking into? A couple of their options I don't believe are rated for that power. If you're sleeving, may as well punch that block out more than 82mm. Some will say you get more rebuilds with a smaller bore but if you need to rebuild an engine 3 times, you have other issues with the build/tune.

It wasn't stated so I'll ask. What is the intent for this car? Drag only, street? Race gas or pump? I don't see you reaching 600 on pump. Secondly... if it's a street car, it's going to take what I'll personally call a laggy turbo on a b16 and quite honestly I think they suck on the street. Start making power at 5500rpm+, etc....

If 600hp is the ultimate goal and you don't care about this other stuff, sorry, but I figured I'd mention it. Hate to see you spend this kind of money and hate the way it drives.

mcclure made over 600 with crower rods, dont worry about that, you need to worry about your fuel pump. i dont believe a single intank will get you 600+ SAFELY. assuming an ls crank?

crower rods i was lookin into the 4340 I beam rods. its going to be a mostly drag car but brought out on some weekends, but definately not a DD. I havent thought about the gas part. I just want a car i know will smoke alot of V8's out there at the track. but i know it wont have a run with fully built v8's, maybe 600 is overdoing it but i dont know. i just want a hella fast and strong b16a motor. cause i am sick of seeing everyone and hearing everyone tell me to get rid of it and go b18c. thanks guys for all your help so far. but a few other things i have left off is.....

hondata s300
acl bearings
block guard
autometer nexus obdII gauges (boost/vac & EGT)

Block guard is useless if you sleeve it.
Just use OEM bearings with a slightly loose tolerance.

the more i think about it what headgasket should i go with cause mine wont be a stock bore. but how loose of a tolerance should bearings be? cause i have always been told the more power u pull out the tighter the tolerances should get so everything works like it should instead of close to what it should.

Dont worry about a laggy turbo. I actually have always liked them.

Your setup sounds doable. Just keep your tank at 3/4 or higher at all times.

Golden Eagle makes head gaskets for your bore I believe. They are OEM also, and would work great for what you plan to do.

I don't know if you would hit 600whp with that setup.... I have almost the same setup as you and at 22psi, I made 502whp on a SC61 maxed out .

yea i would like to know that myself. cause i just want a mid 10's to 11's vechile and i feel that it would take a crap load of power to get there. and a b16a isnt the best base to build from but its what i have and what i am working with. and i need to know about this before i waste my money on parts that wont help any.

hey guys i am about to hardline a smaller fuel filter in my car to clean up the engine bay more and eliminate that huge fuel filter in my engine bay. but does anyone know if this fuel filter would be fine to use on the motor i want to build.

if you are set on an intank, look at the fullblown dual walboro intank setup

No more power gain from turning up the boost, tried turning it up to 25-26psi and nothing was gained from it... tuner told me the turbo is maxed out.

Not a b16a, but a b18c1 at 81.5mm, so a very similar setup but not exactly the same.... don't know if that's going to be a big difference.

i would go bigger on the bore if you are sleeving it, 83 or 84mm. every little bit helps, and take what you can get on the b16.

you really dont need 600whp to meet your goals, hell you can run 11's with 300whp. i would shoot for 500-525whp that is capable of gettign you well into the 10s. with a 500whp goal your fuel system will be more than capable, you can use a streetable clutch, you can choose a turbo with a better powerband. just a couple of my thoughts

Huh? 502whp on an sc61.. its not maxed out.. I've personaly seen 620whp on an off the shelf sc61

You wont get 600 very easily with a 1.6 ltr. Punch it out to 84 or buy an ls block and have that sleeved.

All you realisticly need is 450whp to walk almost anything on the street if you know how to drive. 600 gets pretty retarded and traction is the biggest issue and then trying to pay for the race gas to run 600 hp all the time. You wont make it on pump gas.

I can roll on 5th gear on my drag radials on the street and spin 5th if i have it on the race gas tune (34psi 693whp)

*edit* and once you start getting around 600hp, the torq that normally follows tears your tranny's apart. I just finished building the tranny in my car.
