Default I can't figure it out

I'm rebuilding this 1991 civic hatch. I put a 1992 jdm d15b and a reman head in it and am down to the very last little bit to make it work but am stuck on the timing belt. It don't make any sense, the 92 engine had a 106 tooth timing belt that is too long, the 91 had a 103 tooth belt that is too short. So I bought a 105 tooth belt but it keeps jumping time, so i bought a 104 tooth belt but that is too short. WTF is going on? I'm not understanding the problem. Any help would be hot.

Dont just start throwing random timing belts on a motor! You need to get the proper timing belt for the motor you are working on, end of story.

i'd imagine that you need the same belt that a d16z6 usues. My dad has the jdm d15b non vtec and he used a 92-95 dx timing belt and it worked fine. So it should be a 92-95 civic si timing belt that you need.

I'm not just throwing belts on, hoping it works. Obviously the 106 tooth is too big. It's sloppy on the cam. Obviously the 103 didn't work it won't even fit on the cam. I bought a 105 and it worked till the belt stretched by normal use and jumped time. Obviously that was too long so if the 106 and 105 is too long and the 103 is too short the only option left is... can you guess? The 104. But that is too short too. I can get it on with lots and lots of work but it's too damn tight. My question isn't the belt I guess it's what the expletive is the problem?

Are you buying honda timing belts or just off the shelf toothed gear belts?

To gator88. What do you mean timing belt that matches your tensioner? Longer? Shorter? That's how they're measured. If you had to guess, what timing belt would match that tensioner?
To crxfreak1117. Loosen the belt tensioner then adjust it? How do you think I got it on and off? It wouldn't have driven anywhere if the tensioner wasn't adjusted and tightened.

To guy_from_nerk, Gibsanez, and whiteknightef. I appreciate you guys at least trying to help. I'm using Goodyear Gatorback belts. I noticed they are narrower, but other than that they appear to be the same as Honda. Do you think that could be the difference? The head and block combo is 1992 JDM D15B OBD1 block, bottom end, water pump... etc. 1991 USDM OBD0 re-man head. The head is identical to the one taken off the 200,000 mile engine, except the casting number. Evidentally they made a couple different castings that generation for the D15B series 4th gen, I don't know much about the manufacturing side. The 105 tooth belt worked for... probably two weeks. Then it must have stretched a little and is jumping time now. (only by one tooth, but it's enough) What you guys think?

I think you ought to try the belt for that engine from honda.

Is it jdm d15b vtec? or just like a DX?

The engine came vtec, but since i am using the 91 reman head it's not vtec anymore. I'm building this car for my wifes little sister. She just turned 16 and doesn't have a lot of money to put towards this project and I'm married so you know I don't have the money.
