Why should I get a S2000?
First let me tell ya, that I am a very proud owner of a 99 V.W. GTI VR6, But after costly repair bills, and 105000 miles. I think its time for a change. I love german engineering, but over the years I have really come to respect Hondas. First I looked at the audi tt, but after I heard so many complaints, I started looking around. I have scowerd numerous internet site looking at new and used cars. Then I finally came across the S2000, what a car. The only thing thats a turn off is the ragtop, but after I saw a picture of the spoon hardtop, Im damn near sold. I would really like to hear from S2000 owners, but anyone can through their 2 cents in.

You should get a S2000 if you want Honda reliability in a roadster package.
Go drive one and get the feel for the car. You will never find a better gearbox. If you can wrap your head around the fact that you need to use gearing and engine speed to accelerate at a brisk pace, you will find it to be a very rewarding experience.
What makes the package even sweeter, is that AP1's can now be had in good condition in the mid to high teens.

anyway...if you want to pick up hot women... you want to get an ap1, which is slang for an S2000 produced between 00-03
if you want to pick up men...go ahead and get an ap2, which is slang for an s2000 produced from 04-08
the ap1 performs JUST as well as the ap2, if not better in some regards, looks way better, imo, and is much less expensive.
once again... if you like woman..get the ap1, they will be all over you.
and if you like men, which, there is nothing wrong with that....get the ap2. the "subtle" changes made over the years, were made for a man with a bit of a "softer" side, ya dig?

GRAF-FITY is from miluakee, so you know he's gay, and obviously has the ap2 to complement his gayness... you see? also S2Killa is from NJ, the garbage dump of America, so while he may not be gay like GRAF, he still chose the ap2 to compliment his personality, and his home state
Santos, Old Man Knowledge, and Silent Dancer are the manliest of men, so they obiviously chose the ap1.

00-01 AP! FTW!!!. The 00 and 01 is the most hardcore S2000 out of all the years but it does have one downside the plastic rear window. Anyways read this thread and pic wich one you want https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2173176 .

anyways i would recomend getting a '03 ap1. you get the glass window and the price of it is lower then the ap2's. just my 2 centavos!

not on my part. i just recomended the model i have since you will save money but still get the glass window. everything else the ap2 has(lights, wheels etc) can be purchased down the line.
either way a honda is 20x better then a volkswagen

just go to a dealorship, test drive and s2000. then lay your budget out, and get the best one in that area. don't worry about ap1 or ap2, because if you hang out on here you will mod it, and the subtle differences between the two wont be much of a factor for you. trust me i know, i went from ap1 to my current ap2 and i modded both.

new s2000's arn't over priced, their just to refined and take away from the older more raw forms.
i find it funny how everyone goes ap1 because their cheaper now, and when they mod them they throw a bunch of cheap parts on them making them junk instead of spending some of the money they saved on the ap1 and getting some descent parts. but thats what happens when you get a buncha kids buying s2000's for their second cars after their old civics and integras

new s2000's arn't over priced, their just to refined and take away from the older more raw forms.
i find it funny how everyone goes ap1 because their cheaper now, and when they mod them they throw a bunch of cheap parts on them making them junk instead of spending some of the money they saved on the ap1 and getting some descent parts. but thats what happens when you get a buncha kids buying s2000's for their second cars after their old civics and integras

you cant compare an s2000 to a svt cobra, or a fast car out of the box. the s2000 is made for the track, no the drag strip. its fast around turns, not from a launch. mustangs are the biggest pieces of junk on the roads, and everyone has one still. their easy to make fast, end of story. any tool can buy a stang and make crazy power and pick on s2000's.
new s2000's arn't close to 40k unless your looking at the cr. if you shop around you can get new ones for 32k, and if you really look hard and know how to work a dealorship you can get a new one for under 30k.

auction is only good if you know what your buying.
i paid under 30k for my 05 and i drove it of the show room. they wanted to sell me an 06 for 28k, but i refused that deal. how do you come up with 40k after fees and financing? even if you buy an s2000 for 30k, put 10k down and finance 20k, after interest your still under 35k by a descent amount.
