Koni + GC + GC Top hat, which height should i use?
i just got my set of koni yellows + gc's
when i assembled them, the rear clip came on the middle ring, i assembled everything and it seemed like i had to spin the ring all the way up just to preload the suspension, so i moved the clip up one level, and it seemed better
question is, does it affect anything by which ring i use? here's a pic of what i'm talking about
it came factory on the #2, but i moved it up to #1

great thanks
great thanks
just curious.. since he is using the ground control top hats, which allow for more shock travel, is that much bumpstop necessary? Would that much bumpstop cause the suspension to "bottom out" earlier, since the distance from the top hat to the shock body is reduced? just a though, i'm curious..

i was wondering that myself, but the tophats came with these bump stops, and the instructions didn't say to cut them, so i left it for the time being

It doesn't matter really, you still want the bump stops but you could take them completely off if you want althougth that wouldn't be a good idea, koni's can take the abuse. Bump stops act like a stiff spring, they can actually compress if there is a load on them, it's good to have them. Once cut, they're not as effective. If the top-hats work like I think they do by allowing even the strut itself to fit inside it, then they should'nt get in the way unless you drastically lower the car, then cut them in half. It'll be better to find some smaller sized bump stops though, this way they'll be made stiffer to compensate for the smaller size.
The bumpstops that come with the GC tophats, despite their length, are a lot softer than the OEM ones. I just left them when I used to use them. Absolutely no need to use them in the rear though, lots of travel there.
