clunking noise from steering rack?
i have this clunking noise when i shaking the wheel back forth coming from the steering rack when the car is off. I checked the tie rod end ball joints and they were ok , then i checked my wheel bearing drivers side was very bad replaced that and still have the noise. My sector shaft going into the steering box is within spec so i assume its the tie rod. I have a couple pics of where i think the noise is coming from and what do i order ? Does the tie rod come with the ball coupler thingy or is that a separate part also?
should i also order a new boot while i am at it? or do they boot band and tube clamp?

when i changed my tie rods on my crx the inner tie rod was that one piece, with the ball coupler...
order a new boot, band and hardware like the nut and washer as well...it's not that expensive for all of it...

Its not that expensive to replace the whole thing, I'd do it if thats what creating the noise...
<who doesnt like to shortcut a ball joint issue. Also I have never replaced a boot.....no definitive way to tell that dirt/sand didnt get in the grease.
