Default LED Ambient Interior Lighting

I just got done doing this but you dont get the full affect of the lights, without it being dark. I just wanted to make this post, so that I don't forget to go take pictures in the dark. I put these LEDs on a switch. Here's what that looks like:

LED strips in the door handles are next!

I know the picture sucks. I couldn't get the macro mode on my camera to work, but you get the idea. The color and brightness perfectly matches the gauges when i adjust them to their second brightest setting. I wish I could have centered the switch between the 12v plug and the wall of the console box, but there is plastic support underneath that gets in the way. I think it still looks fine though and I'd much rather have it on a switch. I just tapped the whole thing into the cigarette lighter. On the box for the switch, it said it lit up red, so I'm disappointed it doesn't, but the amber matches the amber in the climate controls, and no one besides me will see it anyway.

It really doesn't look like the colors match in this picture but they do match perfectly. I am gonna borrow my friends camera tomorrow.

Yea Lol. I'm lost without them. I honestly thought I would hate this in any of my cars, but my friend put blue leds in his FG1 to match his blue gauges and I really liked it. I really like mine too. If someone considers it rice, whatever, but I think it really ties the red into the rest of the car. It looks more balanced now IMO.

Switch was $1.50
The LED pods were $9.50 ea
so $21.00 for that stuff

I already had connectors to plug into the back of the switch, but you can get a bunch of them anywhere for like $1.

I also purchased LED strips that I am gonna put somewhere else in the interior sometime this week. I originally planned to put them in the door handles, but I have also considered putting them somewhere in the back. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask. There are DIY threads on how to do this, but I am pretty sure most (if not all) of them don't involve a switch. So, if you want a DIY, let me know, and I'll type one up.

ya i thought about getting the blue ambient light kit from honda for my fg1 but you can only have that or fog lights, not both and i'd rather have fogs. but if you could do a DIY for what you did then i could have fogs and the ambient lighting.

I am in the process of doing the write up. It probably won't be on here until Monday afternoon, because I didn't get enough pictures the first time I did it. I want my write-up to be in-depth and have pictures for every step. And, since I am putting the LED strips in somewhere tomorrow, I will have to take everything apart again anyway.

So do i, but blue matches nothing in the interior, but to each his own. IMO, the red gauges and the blue LEDs would give some sort of patriotic theme to the inside of an FG2, but thats me. I am typing up the DIY right now.

First, thank you. This DIY write-up is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. Looks of info and pictures.
Second, yea I've thought about changing the lights in the climate control area. I haven't gotten any farther than thinking about it on this car though. I have done it before too, on my '91 Accord, and it does look awesome, but I have a feeling it will be a lot harder on this car. There were only like 5 or 6 lights to swap out on the '91. There has to be like 10+ lights in this car. I'm wondering if anyone has done this also.

Here's a tease of what my finished product looks like until I get the DIY write-up completed.

I live near Great Adventure. You're about two hours away, but I'm willing to drive to get this nice install done.
