Trouble with Friends Greddy Ti-C Catback Silencer...
Ok my friend recently got a Ti-C on his 07 Si and he did'nt install it he pay'ed a shop to do it. and They did'nt take out the silencer. To take it out it was easy you just needed to unbolt the 3 nuts and washers and screws. Then just tug on it a little. and that suckers out....
Not my friends.... We unbolted the nuts. took out the tip of the exhaust. should slide right out? right? NO! It wont even budge we did the close hanger trick, the chisel hammer and just grabbing and pulling. It will not come out.
I think its because its winter time now. Its going to expand when its real cold and shrink a little when its warm. And i guess it expanded to much and it wont come out Thats what i think is happening. Any Trick on doing this? mine slide right out!!
Anyone suggest anything? He's coming over in the day time so i will see what i can do for him.
Poor guy
haha- and have a good weekend guys

you're best bet is to warm up his car an then see if it will come off with the help of some wd40 or pb blaster (dunno if that will work)?. its not b/c of the cold weather as much as it is from your friend just running his car normally. turn your car on and the exhaust gets hot, heating up the muffler. once the car is turned off, your muffler cools down and the metal expands.
if it has been on for more than 2-3 weeks im pretty sure it wont come off. i had this happen on my old car and i think the only way to get it off would be with a plasma cutter.
good luck.

You have got your chemical properties backwards my friend. Only water expands when it cools. All other materials, including metal, shrink when they are cold and expand when hot. Example: to make certain wheels, they torch the loop of the rim and super chill the center portion before assembling them. This shrinks the inner part and expands the outer part. Once they are put together and come down to room temp., they cannot be taken apart. If you heat the whole exhaust, both parts will expand and will not help you. Try some penetrating spray.

lol dont ask me. I dont think he knew that there was one in it when he had the shop installed it.
they said it was "muffer tip attender" i should of just installed it for him. But to late now. Hopefully we can get it out tomorrow!
time to dig out the old WD-40 in the basement.

Actually as stated above, the only correct way to get it out would be to heat up the exhaust so that it expands.
after that is completed (USING PROPER GLOVES) you can remove it using your OEM honda "hook" jack tool
