Is it acceptable to shave the sides of CR small end to provide appropriate rod to piston clearance?
Its for a H22 using JE pistons and crower rods. When assembled the clearance is less below minimum spec. Is this the correct thing to do?

have to remove.082 (.041 per side) from each rod. Rod pin end width will now be .855"

.855" is fine on width. I have a set of titanium Honda Crower rods here measuring .858".
If you have a lathe with enough swing, best way to machine the pin ends would be with the pin end mounted to an expanding mandrel. Second best would be on a Bridgeport mill if you can hold the rod so the pin bore is vertical. Chamfer the bushing and debur the rod when you are finished.
