A single stage of any kind of paint will just be a lessor shine vs a 2 stage of the same type. If the paint was meant to be single stage, it will probably have some gloss mixed with it, (unless it was flat/satin SS). So a single stage metallic will look good, and it will shine, but not a car show shine, some are like factory paint.

the DEEPEST shiny solid car(read: black ) is from a single stage.

alot of factory paint is single stage, mostly economical car(miata, corolla, etc)

metallic and single stage doesn't really go that well hand to hand, bc/cc will be much easier to lay down metallic imho.

If you don't have the money for a descent 2 stage metallic job, just wait until you do. Single stage can look awesome with solid colors no doubt, but metallic single stage is not a good idea for outer body panels compared to doing it as a 2 stage.
