Default Civic Help...

So I have an 07 Civic Lx, I know, NO SI? Oh well... I am also a moron when it comes to cars...

I have a few questions...

In the Civic LX's, the odometer and radio and such, have "blue background lights" instead of the "red background lights" that the Si's have... i hate the way the blue looks. Is there anyway i can change that or buy the red back drop?

Another one is, Silicone Wipers... I would post a link but the website is having problems... http://www.procivic.com
Do they work... They say they leave a slight residue and beads off water real easy... Anyone know about these?

Last but not least, vtec head?
Could I add one of these to my non-si motor? Do they exist? Roughly how much money?

If you changed the odometer and radio to red you would still have a blue tach and speedo. And if you changed the tach to red it would say SI on it and have a way way higher redline than the lx does. I don't understand the vtec part. The lx has i-vtec already, just programmed for economy instead of performance.

How can us the R18 users do anything in order to change the parameters on the Vtec from economy to performance like in the SI motors. Even though I know that what we have is a SOHC Civic instead of a DOHC like the SI.???????????

I haven't seen anything aftermarket that will change the color of the lx dash. I don't know if you can swap an si gauge cluster into an lx. But here are a couple of things to consider, if it is possible;

1. Do you drive a manual car? Si's only come in manual, so it you drive an automatic, there will be no indication of what gear you are in on the dash. I don't know if that matter to you, but it's a point to be made.
2. Like a1 said, the si has a much higher redline than the lx, so the tachometer would take some getting used to.

Don't waste your money. Purchase some rain-x wiper solution additive and mix that into your wiper solution. It will do a better job and is a lot cheaper. Just buy the wiper refills at your dealer. They are only like $5.
Stock wipers + rain-x =/> aftermarket wipers

Your r18 already has an i-vtec head. You just have an r18, an engine tuned and built more for fuel economy, than for performance.

I don't know if there is any real ecu tuning out for the R18. The K20z3 has hondata but that is too extreme for my taste. I don't know if hondata has done anything for the R18, but I (with an si) am waiting for some real tuning.

If you want to really mess around, just get an Si. The R18 is economy only, pretty much. There is little aftermarket support and the K20 is already a proven performer. You're better off spending the extra few grand in the beginning for a much stronger starting platform.

I do drive a manual car and i do know that the Si has higher revs...

I am currently waiting for my cousin, who crashed his car and was a total loss, to see if he's going to take over my payments. This way i will get what i wanted in the first place. A 2000 Si...

I'm 20 and my dad "Co-signed" ,not bought, I'm paying for my car... he just co-signed.. anyways, he talked me out of getting a useed car and buying a new car. i told him might as well get a Si, him and the salesman talked me out of it cuz i wouldnt be able to afford it... now i regret it. i should have listened to myself in the first place... thanks for you help anyways...
