Default adjusting PIC Selects, DB7 subframe question

Hi,

I just got a new pair of PIC Selects 10k/8k on my DB and so far its great, with my limited experience with them during this cold weather and on my snow tires.

When I first got them on, it was set to 4 and 3 (front, rear). The ride was too bouncy/floaty. I think the stiffness of the shocks is not enough for the spring rate. So now I set them to 5 and 4. The ride feels a lot better until I get to the bumps and it can get pretty crazy. I am wondering, if I should soften the rear a bit more, maybe at 3 and then use an ITR sway bar to balance it out? Would that even work to help the ride quality while keeping some handling characteristics in check. I don't want even more understeer. Or is this how this spring rate combo is?

I had omni race coilovers before and while it was bumpy, I was OK with it. With these, since I am able to adjust them, I was hoping I can tune it a bit more and get a better balance.

Also, if I get an ITR sway bar, do I need subframe reinforcement on my DB7?

any comments?

Thanks,

first off, nice coilover choice. The PIC Selects are IMO, 1 of the top full coilover setups.
As for setting your shocks, you just really have to play with the settings. The bouncing around can be slightly settled with adjusting the shock to the softest setting, but even that wont solve the stiffness. Your rear spring rate is whats causing the problem. The only real way to decrease the stiffness is to get a set of softer rear spring. I'd say 4k-6k rates would do it. Keep in mind that if you decide to go with lower spring rates you'll lose handling performance. Its a trade for a trade so its your choice. I've been riding on 10k/8k for the past 4 months and i'm thinking of going 12k/10k or 10k/10k. A bit high for a DD, but i'm sure i'll be able to handle it.

The ITR rear sway setup will def help your car rotate better. I put on a 13mm rear sway and it made a world of a difference. If you do decide to decrease your rear spring rates the ITR bar should compensate for it, not completly, but a good amount (correct me if i'm wrong anybody). And yes, when running the ITR sway bar you'll need extra subframe support. The best subframe support setup at the moment is made from ASR. The ASR setup really blings your ride but at high price though. If your looking for something a little bit less $$$ you can look into the R-Crew subframe. Its still very new and really hasn't been used by alot of HT members. I believe there was a thread a while back about it. Most of the guys who used them said it worked well. I'm not sure if this is true, but R-crew does not ship so the only way to get there product is to pick it up. Another route you can go is using the beaks kit, there's alot of different opinions and experiences with them so you'll need to search. IMO, if i was running any sway bar 19mm+ in any integra/civic, i'd pick up the ASR subframe. Its a required upgrade not a recommded upgrade.

hey thanks for the reply.

I thought with the new adjust ability of the dampers I could balance handling vs ride quailty a bit more. I guess I will stick it out and get the ITR sway bar + ASR or something. With the sway bar, I can make the back less stiff. So with a less stiff damper in the rear, the sway bar will compensate or will it be weird since front is stiff and rear is soft?

thanks,
