Advise on 05, 06, or 07
My daughter is looking at getting a civic 4dr. She's leaning towards the 06, but I'm curious if there was any big changes in 07 that would be worth the extra $$. She'll be using it college. She doesn't have any speeding tix yet, so I assume she not looking to push the performance.
I realize the 05 was a different model externally, is it completely different internally? Should I take a look at 05s?
Does the civic share components with any of the acura models? TSX maybe?
Thanks for any advise or comments.

Difference between the 05 and 06 is a COMPLETE change internal and external. Not even the same engines. The 06-08 Si model shares some components with the TSX and RSX.

05 is 100% different, wouldnt' even look at it unless you're looking to save some money.
As for the 06/07, I'd get an 07 if you'd rather she had traction/stability control. Other than that, they're more or less the same.

he never said anything about an SI.
As far as dx, lx, ex trim levels go; there is no difference between 06,07, or 08 except for the fact that there is now an EX-L for 08.

I think it's a base model....LX, or EX.

I agree. While I personally would never buy an '05 over '06+, they were still great cars. I just want a different type of car than the '05 offered. But, for a female college student, who isn't interested in performance, then a low mileage '05 would be a great idea, and you can definitely get one for much cheaper than the '06+ ones. And, if it comes down to '06 vs '07, get the '06. There were no major changes to warrant the price difference you'd pay for a newer car.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I was leaning towards the 06 because it had improved airbags. I was also thinking that although the 05 could be had cheaper, considering resale value in 5 or 6 years, the difference might not be as great. I have an 04 tsx, 98 accord and 98 odyssey, so I'm pretty sure that whatever I get I will be satisfied.
Sounds like the VSA is only available on the Si, which we probably would not go for. Having the nicer trim of the EX might be nice depending upon the premium.
Any advantage to buying from a Honda dealer vs for example CarMax? Honda makes such great cars I woul think even buying from an individual would be OK - not an auto cross or drifter guy of course!

the main advantage of buying it from a honda dealer is that the car will more than likely be honda certified pre-owned. that means you get a kick *** warranty, actually better than most warranties that come on brand new cars.
