From page 10 in the Aeromotive catalog for the A1000, Billet Pump Speed Controller (P/N 16302) recommended for EFI street duty.

Now if your saying you know more then the people who designed this pump, go ahead and do what you think is best.

After all it's only $400.00 to replace it.

we have a a1000 fuel pump on a s2000 sandrail. of course, being out on the sand it has continuous use, not just a 1/4 mile pass and off. we dont use the regulator and we arent having any problems.

do i recommend not using it? no

we usually take it out for a good 45 minutes at a time. im not gonna lie, the pump gets hot. im not sure what the op's plans are, but i personnaly thnk 45 minutes of continuous use is killing that pump...but its fun when your out there.

before we were just running a bosch, but when we switch over to e85 we got the a1000

yeah i personally would recomend using it, like i said after 45 minutes or so, that pump is pretty warm. weve been out about 5-6 times now, and so far so good.

it can handle 800hp. I have never used the voltage regulator in all my years using this pump and have never had an issue with one due to overheating.

With 1000cc you should be able to get 700whp dynojet. what is your base pressure and max boost pressure. these pumps dont like to go over 80psi.
set base at 40(vac. hose on) and you should be alright.
with 1600cc ive gotten 820whp

PS thanks again tony

Haha, using the factory wiring on that pump is a voltage regulator in itself!!!

I'm feeding an aeromotive a1000 with 2 walbro 255's. Both walbros are intank coming out in 2 -6an lines to a -6an -6an -8an NOS Y fitting, then the -8an line goes into the aeromotive A1000. I've been able to achieve a bit more pressure out of the A1000 pump this way with absolutely no pressure drop at 45lbs of boost on a gt4202 turbo and had enough fuel to supply a 100shot wet nitrous setup. Fuel pressure was set right at 45psi with the vac off. No voltage reg and I am using 10gauge wire to feed power to it.
Car has gone 159mph and low 9's with the car being at 3000lbs. I think it's safe to say with the pumps setup this way it's supporting around 1000whp.
Pump has been working flawlessly so far (knocks on wood lol)
Although the damn thing sounds like I am being chased by a lawn mower haha.

With out a1000 and 1000cc we were loosing too much flow up top, this is 4 bar base and 40psi boost. We needed the boost to make the power, and needed the injector maxed to make the power

I ran this pump for 2.5 years, no controller, no issues ever. 675whp, 465tq was the last power we made with this pump.

We are moving to two 044's and 1600cc injectors.

leave the pump alone, switch to the 1600's and you will be fine. Ill talk to when you come by the shop but there is no need to change what isnt broke.
