New York Man Convicted of Killing Car Thief

(New York-AP)7/1/02 -- A Bronx N.Y. man who stumbled across a thief breaking into his car and then fatally shot the man five times has been convicted of manslaughter.

Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson says Victor Vicenty saw the thief, Kevin Bethea, early in the morning of May 7th, 2001, as he was rummaging through the car.

Vicenty, came down from his apartment armed with a .22 caliber rifle, confronted Bethea and fired six shots, striking him five times.

Vicenty faces a maximum of 15 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 19th.

 

I wouldn't have killed him, maybe just popped a round or two in his ***....

 

Bust his knee caps!! But Then I don't have good aim.

.22 cal rifle u have to breach everyshot probably that's why, if it was semiauto they woulda said so so he probably shot reloaded and shot again, somewhat excessive

 

he should of said the thieve was attacking him...

 

I hope that this at least is enough to discourage one thief from stealing **** again.

 

He'll probably be paroled in about 18 months. No biggie.

Did anybody catch this... You really can only shoot someone fatally once..

You'd have to bring him back to life to shoot him fatally again and again...

I have no sympathy for the thief.. He accepts the risk of the consequences when

he commits the crime, same as the victim accepts the risk of the consequences

everytime he pulls the trigger..

You would feel differently if the dead theif was your son. Last time I checked, robbery was not a capital punishment crime.
