i deliver food around the SF and the roads are real bad. well my steering rack bolt broke somehow on the drivers side ( under the car ). and i was wondering if anybody has delt with this problem, yeah i searched but anywho, i would like to know how to take the bolt out and maybe swap out the steering rack for a DA/HF. please! help me out.

youre going to have to be more descriptive than saying "a bolt broke off".

it's on the opposite side of the #'s 29, 28, 28, 35, 30. i think the nut is located on top of #29, inside the frame or something. thank you for responding tyson, nice cars btw

ok, i get it now.

yeah, theres a threaded hole in the subframe that the whole rack bolts up to. im guessing it is indeed a nut welded in the farside of the subframe.

fortunately, the subframe is replaceable. unfortunately, its expensive and a lot of work to replace, even if you got it cheap at the junkyard.

not sure what other option there is for you tho. theres lots of junkyards in newark oakland and richmond to go to, look up picknpull.

any subframe from a non-power steering civic or crx will work.

****, alright then, thank you a whole bunch. i'll just go to a pick n pull and see how hard it is to take out the subframe since all the EF's have empty engine bays. gl to me

btw, if youre dropping your subframe, you should look into replacing the rack end bushing in your steering rack. its just $10 and its a major improvement in steering feel.

I'll be doing my REB when I get back from vacation... not really looking forward to it. Odd thing about mine... the old bushing is sitting on the floor and I haven't even started to work on it. I hope nothing is messed up
