Default Hey guys noob here to the 5th gen accord in need of some help.

Im buying a 5th generation accord thats been stored in my mechanic's shop for 7 or so years, with occassional starts and moved around. Im picking it up for 3000 cad, all it needs is tires for safety, it has 199,000kms on the odometer. Question is should i replace the timing belt right away, cause i want to wait a little bit before i spend more money, like a month or so. Ive driven the car and it drives just great so i dont think hes trying to push off junk to me, after all we are on pretty good terms.

With that amount of years on it with minor startups and what not?

Yes, the MAJOR service every 7 years/80k miles.

To be on the safe side have everything done It may cost more now but prevents so much other damage.

- Coolant flush
- oil change
- tranny fluid change
- timing belt
- water pump
- check axles
- new battery
- new belts
- new seals
- etc

Thanks alot, that maintainance list i had on my mind a little after i get the car. So ile do the timing belt within a week. In the mean time ile have the car parked on the driveway. The aftermarket rims make the tire a pain to find, 205/50/16, so thats my main issue cause the mechanic will not release the car untill it passes safety. If anyone has some used tires, or knows of a place that will have em in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks for the help muffinman, i was looking for something locally cause shipping costs, and i got no time to wait. I was searching for something used even, but ended up buying new from a shop near my house 85$ canadian per tire, nexen CP641 87V rated. Now im just waiting for the car to be safetied, e tested, and then the preventative maintainance done, the mechanic is gonna do timing belt, water pump, the tensioner, harmonic balancer (or whatever its called), some seal for it or close to it, as well crank shaft seal and some other seals that are around that area just in case, the guy said its the 200, 000km schedule plus its been sitting for 7 years. So hopefully i have the car wednesday in top shape and driving smooth.

Its a white one, once i pick it up, ile give it a cleaning an post a pic. Ya for the year i couldnt find anything better in the area, and with such low kms, and the low price, but its still gonna come out to be the same (only difference is the condition is perfect compared to the ones on the market) , theres 760$ of work being done to the mechanical thats parts included, actually that cost is mostly parts, plus today the mech called me to tell the the rad blew on his way to the gas station so he never made it there, took 6 stops to get back to the shop, so thats another 100 only for the part hes giving it to me at cost price, and free labour. Hopefully this is the last of it for a little bit, then ile get on some other maintainance.
