US Navy Sponsorship of their Sport-Compact Drag Racing Program
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hollywood, FL. Jan. 18, 2008 – Driven2win Motorsports has partnered with the US Navy to create a Motorsports themed marketing platform to target specific recruitment and educational programming opportunities for the US Navy. The “US Navy-Accelerate your Life/Driven2win” racecars will tour the NOPI Drag Racing Series, select NHRA & ADRL Drag Racing events nationwide and will be driven by 2-time NHRA Sport Compact Champion Nelson Hoyos
On race weekends, the Navy Recruiting slogan, “Accelerate your Life”, its toll-free recruiting phone number and the web site address will be strategically placed around the track to make the most of the Navy/Driven2win partnership. On the midway the Navy/Driven2win display areas will offer a variety of themed promotions with interactive activities and driving simulators giving young adults the opportunity to learn about the many exciting US Navy careers.
Nelson Hoyos driver of the new Navy/Driven2win Team achieved success quickly in the Sport Compact Drag Series. He won the IDRC Sport Compact championship as a Car/Team-Owner. Then as a factory driver for GM Racing /Chevrolet in the NHRA Sport Compact Racing Series, the South Florida resident chalked up an impressive array of victories on his way to (2) consecutive NHRA Championships (2003-2004) which included 12 wins and 11 runner-ups, totaling 23 final-round appearances in 30 Races. Adding to his impressive resume’ Hoyos' GM Performance/Chevy Cobalt roared to a high speed record of 243.127 mph, at the Bonneville Salt Flats, eclipsing the previous record of 212.684 MPH. Hoyos was named the 2004 Turbo Magazine “Driver of the Year” for his accomplishments. An outstanding spokesperson, champion driver and chief instructor at the Driven2win Drag Racing School, Hoyos is committed to success on and off the track.
I am very excited about the opportunity to represent the US Navy and their Recruiting Centers, said Hoyos. The US Navy and Driven2win Drag Racing School share common educational platforms of establishing clear, attainable goals. There are many similarities between the Navy’s high-performance ships, aircraft and weapons systems and the high-tech; turbocharged-fuel injected small displacement engines found in the Sport-Compact Car culture that we race. They are computer tuned machines built on the latest technology and use exotic materials to create maximum performance. It’s an honor to represent all the men and women sailors while I’m on the track and share the value of the Navy’s career opportunities to our target audience.
In addition there are many events planned around the Navy/Driven2win partnership. They will visit local Vocational/Technical High Schools, Community Colleges with the show cars, simulators and promotional materials promoting Navy careers. The on and off track local marketing efforts main objective, is to create a positive image for the Navy and help recruitment opportunities in big ways.
Driven2Win Drag Racing School offers race fans the opportunity to drive in true professional Racecars and have an experience of a lifetime! We also offer in-depth comprehensive programs to help educate enthusiast and competitors on the many facets of drag racing. “Nelson’s experience in the sport of drag racing will allow students to learn from someone who has had success as a driver in the sport.”
lol,
That is crazy, their are plenty of guys in the Navy that have been trying to get them to do something like this.
Hell I have friends at the Naval Academy trying to build a car!

well at least they are doing it

We did travel to all of the events of the former NHRA Sport Compact last year, it is refreshing to see that many people are trying their best to help our dear sport.
thats awesome news!!!
they've been trying to get that navy deal since Kubo was around
does this extend to the dragster? and will that be running next year... or is this just in conjunction with the driving school tour like he did last year?

I know that the primary goal is to get Mr.Hoyos behiand the wheel of a Pro RWD Car, I also know that the dragsters will be there and Im sure that the extreme class could fit one of them very nicely.
congrats to nelson and his crew! i got a chance to talk with him at LV and pomona last year and even though they were not racing they still showed up to the events thats dedication! he has been a great competitor and a role model to alot of us and not to mention a navy sponsorship thank god some is out there defending us and supporting our series at the same time! god bless the US armed forces!
I am in the navy. So many people have pushed for a drag race team. They should make the team all navy and make it a job. I would definently stay for 20 for that. But congrats none the less.
