You need to make sure the axle is seated in the dif. If not it will come out.

Take a piece of 2X4 and place it against the hub end of the axle. Have someone get under the car and hold the axle and inner joint aligned in the tranny. Hit the 2X4 with a big hammer, driving the axle into the dif.

I had the same problem a few years back. I put in a bigger clip on the axle and it solved the problem.

I GOT THE SAME PROBLEM BUT MY AXLE GOES ALL THE WAY IN. IT POPS OUT AFTER EVERY RUN AT THE TRACK!! I GOTTA JACK IT UP AND PUSH THE AXLE BACK IN!! THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT THE DIFF IM USING. BUT I CHANGED IT AND IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING!!!! I PUT A STOCK AXLE IN AND THERE IS NO PLAY WHAT SO EVER, NO MOVEMENT. I PUT THERE AXLE IN AND IT MOVES UP AND DOWN 1-2 INCHES OF PLAY. ITS ALSO FUNNY I FOUND THIS ON HERE THEY KEEP TELLING ME "THEY NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM EVER"!! THEY STILL HAVE MY AXLE AND ARE TAKING 4 EVER TO GET IT RITE.. THEY KEEP IGNORING THE FACT THAT A STOCK AXLE WILL POP RITE IN NICE AND SNUG WITH NO MOVEMENT AND THERE AXLE GOES IN AND IS ALL SLOPPY WITH LOTS OF MOVEMENT... THEY ALSO TRIED TO TELL ME THAT MY RICHMOND SPOOL ISNT MACHINED IN THE RITE SPOT TO ACCEPT THE SNAP RING ON THE SHAFT!!! BUT AGAIN MY STOCK SHAFT SEEMS TO POP IN SNUG AS A BUG!! I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT THEY MACHINED THE SNAP RING IN THE WRONG SPOT,LOL..

I BEEN TRYING TO TELL THEM TOO PUT THERE MONEY WHERE THERE MOUTH IS.. I LIVE IN MASS AND TOLD THEM I WILL PUT THE TRANNY IN MY TRUNK AND DRIVE THE 12HRS AND PROVE THAT ITS THERE AXLE AND NOT MY TRANS.... IF IM RITE THEY PAY MY GAS AND TOLLS IF IM WRONG THEN THEY DONT. IM GOING ON PINKS ALL OUT IN JULY AT ENGLISHTOWN NEW JERSEY, I GUESS IM GONNA HAVE TO NEGOTIATE JACKING UP MY CAR AND PUTTING IN MY "SLOPPY DRIVESHAFT SHOP AXLE THAT KEEPS POPPING OUT" TO THE WHOLE COUNTRY!! I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED

ive talked to DSS about slop of my axle in the diff also. i never had a problem with it popping out of place though. they told me they havent had any machining problems.
ive measured the upper and lower portions of my stock ITR diffs splines and the richmond one that resides in my car currently and both were within thousandths of an inch. ive measured how far the snap ring is into the diff on both and its in the right spot too.
but nonetheless i have slop between the axle and diff.
when my axle is in the car it looks like it should go in farther. the "fat" part that looks like it should slide into the axle seal sits right on the outer edge of the axle seal. in fact last year it leaked slightly. this year its dry as a bone which makes no sense at all.
my axles were the old "stage 3s" which are equivalent to the new 5.9s.

The old level 3's are not equal to 5.9's. Maybe you ment you have the old level 5's which are equal to the level 3.9's? 5.9's are in a league of their own!

FAWK. I jinxed myself. My axle 5.9s just started popping out also. Been fine for a couple runs, had to take the transmission out to fix a cracked case. Back together and now the axle keeps popping out.

Tried a good c-clip. No dice.
Tried the hammer /wood trick. no dice It goes all the way in and you can hear the axle bottom out.

I went to the track and got one run in. Then the axle popped out and puked MTF everywhere I just can't win!

To those that say "bigger c-clip" What did you get one from or did you just bend your c-clip to make it bigger?

I've been having this problem on stock axles in my daily car. Replaced the axle 3-4 times to check it. Checked diff. play on everything too and never found any problems. Ended up having a ball joint with too much play in it causing the spindle assembly to move outward under stress pulling the C-clip out. Don't know if that might help, but maybe something to look at. I never expected it, balljoint didn't leak grease or have busted boot, but did have excessive play.

just wondering , did any of you ever rebuild ur tranny and did not check for shims clearances, or for wear internally in ur internal parts includind casing. if all check out gud. U can then suspect ur next components .check C clip for worn or mishape in any form of wear and tear.dont assume the least possible and not be able to fix the issuses. double-triple check all possiblity. knowing I have to put it all in major uses & abuses.I wud not take the risk. then again its my opion 2 all. I hate 2 lose races over minute or common mistakes. hope dats helps.
