Would overfilling oil result in oil being in the spark plug holes?
So I have another thread going here where I'm trying to figure out whats wrong with my CRX. Today I decided to replace the spark plugs, and when i took the number 4 plug out, it had oil all over the top of it. When I first got the car, it was way overfilled, about 3 inches or so up on the dipstick from where it should be. I'm assuming that the overfill is the reason there's oil in the holes. What seals or gaskets would be bad to cause this>
Your spark plug tube seals are leaking. Pretty common. Replace your valve cover gasket and spark plug seals. If you're feelin classy, do a valve adjustment too.
An overfill would not cause that.
There are O-ring seals between the valve cover and head that keep the oil from getting into the spark plug tubes. Yours need to be replaced.
