Default ID on head '97 coupe

Hello all, I have a 97 civic that I have recently picked up. Its a real nice little car, has some suspension work done and i was looking and my engine bay today and noticed i have the factory d16y7 block which I am pretty sure was originally non vtec.. I bought the car because it has a headgasket leak and I was looking at it today, I see a vtec solenoid not wired up and I tried to find a head part # but all i found on her was p08-2 and faintly in junkyard marker its says 1993Y and D15B....could anyone ID this head, is it junk?

Sounds like you have the D15B if you have a VTEC solonoid. No, D15B's are not junk. JDM D15b's are the highest HP D-series motor that come stock from the factory as far as i know.

well the block is a d16y7 block, but the head as a solenoid on the left side (standing in front) which I would assume was a vtec solenoid but the wire from the sole. runs to the plug and then the plug is open ended. So the solenoid is deffinatly not being powered.

OK updated...found the part number it is a d16z6 head (d16y7 block) but it looks like they swapped the z6 head on and did not bother hooking up the vtec or swapping intake manifolds (my intake manifold is ****)

any suggestions on wha i should do to utilize this head?
