Missing Year in ITR badge * pic *
It is most likely blank that has been purchased and marked to match the original # from the armrest. This could have been done for several reasons: The original owner may have wanted to keep the original armrest, or they could have been replacing a stolen/missing armrest.

This is my assumption. The badge you have is from a 1997 ITR, as they never had the year stamped on the badge.
I dont know if your car is salvaged, or if the armrest was removed at one point, and someone purchased the one you currently have.

Correct me if i am wrong, but we have all seen people try and take a pic of their engraved number more than once, something about the way the light alone is hitting those #'s entirely off.
When we usually see this pic, you tend to see everything engraved show up the same the whole way across the plaque, however you can clearly tell that the # itself is much darker than the rest of the engraving, WHICH WAS DONE BY SOMEONE AFTER PURCHASING IT. Not yelling, but thats the key piece of info there

I think this pic clearly shows what Jon D is talking about. You can clearly see the difference.

The 97's have a 5 digit badge number. So if this was from a 97 it would be engraved "-00013"

Drools... a virgin ITR armrest. Shawn is she free for dinner and a movie Sat. nite?
Jon numbers were stamped at manufacturer prior to plating process. That would also explain why there's no correlation with VINS.

Been well aware of this for years... was merely pointing out how easily noticeable it is that the plaque purchased from Acura was engraved by another source after purchasing it.
