Am i running the wrong tires on my 97 accord?
i just bought a set of falken 17'' rims with 205/40zR17.80w tires..i think i need a bigger tire on my accord...i dont know too much about tire sizes, anyone know these best tire to run on a 97 accord vtech 4 cyl
Look at the side of the tire and check what it rated for on weight. I had 205/40/17's on my Accord. It was slammed but didn't have VTECH
, don't know if that makes a difference or not
.

It will ride like crap, the tires are super thin. Its not going to ride like the stock wheels. Is your car even lowered?

Thats why they look so small. You have to lower it for it to even look 1/2 decent. Please post a pic, I wanna see it.

Thanks
, I lowered mine about 3". Depending on your setup, it will ride like crap. I have Omni Power Coilovers so it rides decent. The only thing is scraping everywhere you go. I don't run 17's anymore and have lifted it up to about a 1 1/2 finger gap around. It feels good to not scrape everywhere now

right now on my 95 accord... i set my coilovers to about a 1 finger gap and i still scrape on speed bumps and weird driveways but now i am planning to adjust it lower when i get my new wheels/tires...

Remember, part of the reason for the fender gap is the undersized tires.
You ought to change to 205/45-17 before you start changing anything in the suspension.

205/45-17 is much closer to the outer diameter of the stock 195/60-15 tires (+0.2 percent vs -1.8 percent difference).

Either way it needs atleast a 2" drop to look good. I posted a pic of my old setup. Running the same sizr tire as the OP. I did get 215/40/17 after and it did look alittle better.

If you want, you can drive the car with the 205/40-17 tires, rather than toss them, as long as the tires are okay, have plenty of tread, etc. Just remember that when you wear them out, you'll want to replace them with 205/45-17.
