Default Should i trade for a 5th gen prelude

Hey my fellow prelude owners, I’m currently selling my 4th gen prelude that has a Jdm h22a and a ton of tasteful mods. A person who live about 30 miles away from offered to trade me a 1998 prelude with 156,XXX miles here’s the link to it http://newyork.craigslist.org/....html

Here’s the link to my car https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2204697

I have a couple questions for you guys:

Do you guys think it’s a smart idea for this trade to happen, or should I ask him for some money also?
Is the mileage too high?
When I go check out the car, what should I keep my eye open for?
Keep in mind that I’ve wanted a 5th gen for a while.
I’m open to all your opinions don’t be afraid to comment

Thanks

EDIT: Update

Okay I went to check out the car, the guy was shady as F*ck
Things wrong with the car:
-Two front tires were shot from chamber ware
-Needs a chamber kit all around
-Adjusting bolt for power steering pump was snapped, so no power steering
-Valve cover gasket was GONE!
-Car back fired at idle
-Under drive pulley wobbled Allot, it had allot of play (possibly the crank was bent when trying to remove the pulley) so motor was shot!
-Kid had no idea how and if his tein super streets where adjustable
The Good
-Minty Fresh interior (that’s it)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After showing him everything I spotted wrong with the car he offered me $500 and a neuspeed strut bar, obd 2 to Obd 1 conversion harness, OBD 1 ECU, 2 Fenders, 1 Passenger side door

I told him to get the pulley check by a mechanic and get back to me lol; I didn’t want to hurt his feelings
If he calls me back im going to tell him if he gives me $1000 and the 98 lude my car is his. I can get a Jdm H22 for $1100 shipped
Is it a good idea??

i think the miles are way too high. especially for a 98. i have a 97 that i bought got for $7000 with 95,XXX miles on it with just minor dents in the drivers side fender and thats all that was wrong with it.

i say wait for another one to come up with less miles

check autotrader or where i found mine was on kbb.com in like the for sale section or watever.

Is mileage really an issue for 5th gen ludes. Is 156xxx miles really too much?

as long as it was decently maintained i dont see how it could be a problem. i just passed 150k last week, and i dont have one complaint about my car. everythign works just as it should. tranny is perfect, accessories, everything.

Well considering I am coming close to that and boosted... I dont think so. I am a bit curious as to why this person wants to trade tho. How many miles are on your car?

No real problems to look for but regular maintenance things. Ask him about the history of his maintenance. We already know its a 5 speed so tranny failure isnt really on the list.

Another thing is: "car was hit on the door and quarter panel was fixed but needs paint and i have a new door for it also has altezza taillights broken but i have new jdm tail lights red and whites fender has a dent i have a new fender needs paint"

Also the hood is bent at the front. Do you plan to paint this car?

Ask when the timing belt was replaced.

This trade makes absolutely no sense to me personally at all. Have you honestly thought about it? Basically your trading for a OLDER car (engine-wise) anyway. From a JDM motor with probably 50K on it to a car with 150K plus. So basically your trading for a more beat motor, that's not only more beat but not as strong as a JDM even if just a little bit. Nor have you any idea of how the guy treated this car, not to mention (if you care about speed) that 5th's are slightly slower than 4th's. I personally think this a bad idea and urge you to think about why trade for a mechanically older car. What's wrong with 4th gens? Yours looks very nice.

^ Honestly like he was saying. I saw your for sale thread and your car is probably in better mechanical and physical condition than that 5th gen prelude. I believe if you want to do a trade like that do one with an ideal 2001 prelude with < 50,000 on the clock. That would be a worth while trade. Yes you might have to add some cash to it but it would most likely be in better condition. If your still set on it I would do the carfax like someone suggested. Good luck

thats what i had on my first bb6 prelude, and it seemed to still pull as hard as the one i own now with 137,000. its just a matter of how long are u expecting to keep the car for, because once they get past 200,000 ive seen some start to have problems

Your car is nice, but the one you are looking at is hot. 156,xxx isn't that bad.

There is a reason that guy wants to trade you for his car with a higher kbb. value. Yours is better!!

i dont think thats a good idea at all. sounds like the car was beat on and accidented. your car looks nice, just fix your rust problems and it be good.
as hot as the 4th gen is, i doubt anyone would be willing to trade a 5th gen for one unless something is wrong with it.
