I need a new alternator in my ITR, where can i get one?

 

Stinger makes high current ones for car audio applications upto 270 amps.

Does a high current altenator sap more hp than a stock one?

 

V = IR, assuming ohms law holds true, i would say so

 

High output alternators are NOT designed for daily drivers and are for car audio competition vehicles only. They are not expected to last for more than 6 months. I met some kid who bought two alternators from a well known company and he got them to admit this.

Yeah - I would try an get an heavy duty alternator from another Honda product (e.g. Odyssey or CRV) and custom fit it for your application (i.e. fab up a custom mounting bracket).

The alternator will have a little more drag - but not a lot - but it will certainly weigh a lot more.
