Default What a Weekend!

Whew! What an event filled weekend. I started to install my koni's and Ground Control on Friday night and like always I had a rear lower shock bolt break. Doh! So first thing Sat morning I went to Acura and bought the new bolt and bushing. I took the control arm off and figured out how to install the new bushing after fighting with it for like 3 hours. Anyways I finally finished the project at like 8 PM on Sat night and drove it for like 10 mins to make sure everything was ok. WOW what a difference! With my ITR rear sway bar, suspension and strut tower bar that back end doesn't flex at all! So Sunday I got up early and headed with great anticipation to the auto x to hopefully place in the top 3 of DSP a locally very tough class. Well I was a little disappointed because I quickly found out that my worn 712's are not up to the task of keeping grip. It was quite frusterating becasue the car was very neutral, but I would hit a certain angle or g forces and the car would just wash away. All 4 tires would break loose and boom I am done! Looks like I need tires next, it is just more money I don't have. Also, on the Ground Controls... I heard that with the spring at the top of the collar it is a .5" drop. So I lowered the car another 1" to get what I think was a 1.5" drop, but I have like 2-3fingers between the tire and fender. Is this correct? What is the real way to measure the drop? Thanks!

3 finger gap would be about 1.2" lower from stock height.

2 fingers is closer to 1.75".

You're pretty dead on with your assumption.

yah, 712 are a good value overall in every aspect (wear, price, grip...etc) especially in large size fitment (712 in 17's are down right cheap) but just can't grip enough, not to mention they are some of the most noisy tires when pushed hard...

if you're serious about DSP you better atleast get some R compound tires.
