Default A few noob suspension questions.

Ok Ive been reading around regarding the Koni yellow and GC suspension setup. I understand this seems to be the more popular setup and there isnt anything negative said about them. Ive been to a few online stores to shop for Koni yellows. I have a 91 CRX Si. On the sites it states that you have to "cut and weld" a part of the Koni shock. Im asuming its the area where the spring or GC coilover sits on but im really not sure. In the forums nobody really talks about welding or cuting anything on the shocks. Could someone please clarify this for me.

My other question is, what are extended top hats? What is their function and are they a must when using the Koni GC setup? Also there are two types of Konis.. The regular yellows and some sort of shortend koni yellow. What is the difference?

thanks for any info.
