New ITR Owner looking for suspension advice
Hey guys,
Finally picked up my '01 ITR with MINT (I'm talking brand new) CDN red seats! They're immaculate just like the rest of the car.
I've been doing a lot of reading on ht.com and a few other boards. However, there are many mixed answers from different boards.
I'm looking for a set of coilovers that I'll be using on the street and a few track sessions this year. What do you guys recommend?
I've read some good things about the Skunk2 Pro-C. Are there any other coilovers you guys recommend?

I can't think of a better set up then the PIC Select R3s, very tolerable on the street and great for track. Haven't heard of ANYONE being upset with them yet.

R3's are great! I almost sold mine, but I couldn't find anything better.

what do you want the car to do for you?
Do you have camber kits for the front and back already?
Do you want a stiffer spring rate in the front or in the rear?
Who is going to corner balance the car for you?
Are you going to need a stiffer sway bar ?
I don't know what your driving history is like but if you answered " I don't know " and " No " to any of these questions. My suggestion is to keep it stock and take it to the track and get to know the cars habits and feel on the track. That way you can make adjustments according to your needs, instead of going in blindly switching out parts that can give the car characteristics you don't want.
Believe me I learened the hard way. Lift throttle oversteer is
for the first time especially when one hits the brakes
OMG!!! **** flashbacks
Keep it stock, take it to the track, if you need more rotation in the turns make adjustments as you need to fit your driving style.

I'd like to keep the car stock. Like I mentioned, one of the front shock is blown so I figured I might as well get some coilovers as opposed to buying two new front shocks.
90% of the driving will be daily driving to and from work but the road in the city I'm in are terrible!
I'm also considering Tein basics. Any reviews on these for the ITR?

Koni GC works for me
400lb front 550lb rear with full stiff is kind of bumpy to me on the street but I get used to it. It performed way better to my old setup (Tokiko Illumnia Stock Spring)
for a suspension setup that is less than $1k it's totally worth it.

Listen to YellowKahuna and Bbasso.
N00bs always ask what mods when they get an R. If your roads are bad, you won't want a stiffer sussy than stock. Better rubber if it came with crap tires.
OEM tires are really good and if you are DRIVING it, at least a set a year.
I'm a mod junky and I kept my ITR bone stock. Save your dollars for tires.
Buy two new front shocks.
