Default Wheel Cylinder?

Did a search and saw that a bad wheel cylinder may be the cause of a brake fluid leak? I have a leak coming from my rr drum. Spitting fluid all over the inside of my rim. Thanks for the help.

sounds like the obvious source of problem.

a wheel cylinder is basically the hydraulic slave piston in a drum brake.

its probably toast and in need of being replaced immediately.

likely it will be a mess inside there and youll want to rebuild all the other parts.

You'll wanna replace shoes and wheel cylinders on both sides. Not the hardest task, do one side at a time so you can study the other side if you need to.

Would it be ok to drive with it like that for a couple days? I mean the sooner it gets fixed the better but what would happen if it was to be driven like this?

You really want to get it taken care of. If you are loosing fluid you could loose pressure resulting in you hitting someone or something. It really isn't safe. As they stated above it really isn't a bad job to do. I think it took me about 30-45 mins per side to rebuild.

And as I experienced myself driving with no brakes is a sticky situation. I had mine go out on me and it was a hair raising experience.

i wouldnt drive on it, especially if its excessively leaking and all over your rims. thats pretty dangerous!

very likely you will not have brakes and slam your car into something/someone.

please get it fixed asap.

Makes sense. I must get it fixed immediately. Oh i didnt mention that it feels like my e-brake is stuck on. Like its really hard to reverse. Is it locked up?

the rear brakes are tied to the ebrake. it'll likely sort itself out when you replace the wheel cylinder.

sounds like you need to buy a whole new rebuild kit with new shoes if your shoe is stuck.
