Default si to dx b series swap axle question.

my boyfriend got a 1990 crx si with a b16 in it. just bought a 1988 dx hatchback shell. Can his b16 drop into the dx hatch without having to swap teh hubs out... or do i have to swap teh hubs to make the axles work? i belive the dx hatch is a 5speed if that makes a differrence. i searched HT but only came up with nothing in this case. help me out guys. thanx

You don't need to switch hubs. The axles difference will be in the B-series intermediate shaft that D-series don't have.

so no matter if it is an 88 civic or 90 crx the axles from teh b series will work? there is no differnece in teh hub spline accepting the shafts?

is there a differnce in size between the 4 speed tranny drive shafts and the 5 speed tranny driveshafts?

If the hubs are a CRX/DX/Si then there is no problems. The hubs will be fine with B-series axles.

If it is HF/STD then it won't work and you will have to swap out hubs.

4 speed is STD unless someone has messed around with the hubs and put different axles in. So yes there is a difference between CRX/DX/Si 5 speed and the STD 4 speed/HF 5 speed.

It has to be DA 90-93 integra axles with intermediate half shaft from 90-93. DO NOT confuse with the DC integra 94-01.

You could also use 1986-1989 Integra axles with 1990-1993 Integra inner joints. This is certainly more work than using straight 1990-1993 Integra axles. But you will get a somewhat better fit. For instance, removal of the sealing rings is not required with this setup. But regardless of which axles you use, the 1990-1993 Integra intermediate shaft is the one you need.

I'm using 94-01 integra axles and half shaft in my 89 Civic no problem.

Just need to match the axle seals on the transmission to the axles.
